more contractions and back pain

I'm concerned.  For almost 2 weeks now I've been having contractions,  becoming painful and consistent.  They are steady at 5 mins apart and accompanied with horrible lower back pain/pressure.  I've been in to my ob and checked. She says it isn't doing anything to my cervix but she's put me on bed rest and tells me to call if it continues.  I do call because its non stop ...  anyway I guess my question is I'm only 24 weeks and it's way too early to have baby.. has anyone had this problem? How do I stop the contractions?  Will I be able to carry baby to term? This is my fourth baby and strangely enough I've never had contractions (I've had all c-sections) even with being induced for over 2 days ... so this is new to me and becoming so uncomfortable and painful.

Any help, please...

also praying for you and thinking of you. bed rest can do a lot to help, so just take it easy and try to trust that everythign will be okay (i know, it is hard to do)!

i've been on it myself since week 23 for unrelenting contractions... just made it to 34 weeks on thursday. wishing you all the best!

Just hang in there. You are far enough along where if she were to come now, with lots of care and some time in the NICU she can be just fine. Praying for you and your little one

I'm still at the hospital and from what my doc is saying ill be calling this little room home till baby is here.  My contractions are 3 minutes apart and an ultrasound this afternoon showed that the placenta has started to separate from my uterus.  Nothing they have tried has stopped the contractions although it still isn't changing my cervix.  The worry my ob said is my 3 past csections and I can't have a vbac, tge risk of uterine rupture is too high due to the way my 1st csection was done.  I'm really trying not to freak out but I am so scared for my little girl.  I've waited so long for her.

Thank you for your replies.  I'm being monitored now, its reassuring that others have been thru this too.  All I can think is 24 weeks!!! Baby isn't ready.   Ill let you all know what happens. God willing the contractions will stop!

If they continue and get closer together I would go to L&D. My cousin went into labor and had her daughter at 24 weeks! She weighted 1 lb 8 oz. After a few heart surgeries and months in the hospital she was able to come home. She's now 1 1/2 years and doing great. I hope what ur feeling is not preterm labor, but def take it easy and go straight to the hospital if it worsens or continues.

I had contractions nearly every day from 12w. At 24w and after was when I was getting all the meds to stop them. I usually stayed home until I was having them every 5-10m or so since they weren't doing anything to my cervix.

HI!
I'm Cindie. When I was pregnant with my 2nd son Mason I had contractions starting super early, around 12w that felt like horrible cramps. During my pregnancy I was in the hospital multiple times with contractions getting as close as 2-3m apart for hours and required both shots and pills on several occasions to stop them.

They were braxton hicks contractions but they were REALLY painful at times. it was wierd.... Like you I had a Csection with my first and was prepared for one with my 2nd (had one too)

Like you they didn't do anything to my cervix but they did like to monitor me closely and I was told to rest alot.

I delivered my son Mason at 37w5d, and he was a healthy 6lb5oz baby.

We are TTC #3 and I know that I"ll likely be dealing with contractions yet again... and lots of heartburn. (it got worse my 2nd pregnancy than my first, lol)

Okay that looks like a stupid post - obviously it didn't work if your back. Reason I said that is, the hospitals out here don't pull up previous records unless you tell them you were there recently for the same reason

Make sure to let them know it didn't work. I am not entirely sure if you will have to keep going in as I've never dealt with preterm labor personally. I hope someone who has can come by and give you some insight.

I'm getting ready to go back in to labor and delivery ... I got a shot last time. Do you think that ill have to continue to go in for them to stop the contractions? It never stopped them my last visit 10 days ago.

If the contractions are becoming closer together and consistant, I would not call your OB but just go straight to L&D. If in fact you are in preterm labour if its caught early enough, it can be stopped!
