I meant 4 weeks earlier lol
My baby was estimated at 7lb 3oz on Wednesday. Her last estimate was 4 months earlier at 4lb 13oz. The doc thought the weight gain was rapid and was concerned since I had gestational diabetes. I was induced the next day and delivered a 6lb 5oz baby. The estimate was almost a whole pound off. I had an induction with no epidural because it didn't take. Next time I'll just wait and see and let it happen naturally.
you can do it!! but you can't squat with an epidural..something to keep in mind.
hey tabby! ive been lurking in the may mommies forum!
the girls were so diff. one was 5.4 and second was 8.5
i had no problems delivering either one, although my second was a tid bit more painful lol
im sure i can do this!
I was also told my baby was going to be huge and "ready".... they induced me as well, and Bella was only 6.2...... in a few days she lost her swelling" and was 5.9.... so yeah they dont have a clue as to what they are talking about most of the time.
thank yall so much, i needed this info like right now because im currently headed to hospital to have her i think! lol
wish me luck! joy- i think the squatting sounds like something i may try
Hey Tasha!! How have you been?? I havent seen you on much lately. Your are so close! IIf you want to try a vag delivery they cannot make you have a c-section. Also, how big were your girls??? With my Taylor they told me at 37 weeks she was 9 lbs 13 ozs. I almost had a heart attack! She was born 2 days later weighing 7 lbs 6 ozs. They were way off. She was around the same weight as all my boys, I should have known better, lol. I would say this baby will be somewhere around the same weight as your daughters, give or take a pound. But then again, thats just my opinion, lol!
I meant ".... medical reason for c-section"! But induction as well. Some women, when in the right position (usually squatting or hands-and-knees) can push out a 13 lb baby. I would not sign up for major abdominal surgery because your doctor THINKS your baby is over 9 lbs. Those sonos are off by up to 3 lbs.
For instance my friend was told her baby was going to be HUGE! So they induced her two weeks early. Her baby was under 7 lbs.
Large baby is NOT a recommended or reasonable or even medical reason for induction based on ACOG (American College of Gynecologists). Doctors get more money for C-sections AND they can get the birth over with and out of the way and get home to dinner much faster. Sad, but true. Obviously we don't want to think the worst of everyone but that is just a HUGE red flag to me. I've talked with many L&D nurses and midwives about this very thing.
You can refuse anything and everything. If they say it is hospital standard it still is NOT law (you don't have to have an IV, Pitocin, etc.).
oh and Doctors LOVE to freak out their patients.....
DEFINATLY refuse the C-S if you truely want a natural birth. Fetal ultrasounds can be off by as much as a pound. They are not very "reliable" obv.if the baby is lookin like he'll be 12lb yeah that mite be reliable, but between 7-8.5 lbs.... you can and shud deliver naturally. With my last one i specifically told my ob that a C-S was an emergancy route. not a "way to deliver"............ remember women HAVE been doing this for many many years. And id like to think that C-S are not required in most of the C-S that are done....
You can refuse a c-section, you might need to switch dr's if your dr just refuses to listen to you.
The fetal weight ultrasounds are a guideline, not exact science. A friend of mine had one done and it was a whole lb off!
No one can make you have a c-s. If the baby is on the larger size and he does want to do a c-s I would just tell him how you feel. I mean if there is no med reason for it.....
