i am 36w as well but with my 1st baby.  i too have noticed that there seems to be less movement lately.  he has been measuring big the last couple of months so i had just assumed that he is running out of space to stretch and move.  i would agree that if midwife is not worried then baby is probably just fine! good luck

When I was pregnant with my daughter I wouldn't feel her move all day.  At night when I would lay down, she was up and "running".  Your daily movements lull them to sleep.

I know that if you've been active all day, your movement will rock the baby to sleep and it'll stay asleep most of the time you're up n about.
Another thing is, once you're approaching your due date, and delivery is near, the baby tends to slow down on moving.

When I was only a few weeks away from delivering my daughter, I only felt her move a handful of times everyday. But she was also a 10 pound 13 ounce baby and she REALLY had run outta room! lol

I would go back to the doc and demand the baby get monitored.
I just went in today because I didn't feel the baby move at all today until the doc pushed him and that's when he started back up.
My doc says I did the right thing because it's better to come in and everything be okay, than to wait n see and turns out there was a problem and it be too late.

I hope everything turns out okay for you!

Have you been really busy today? I know that sometimes when you get really busy doing things you may not notice all the movements that your baby is doing. My dr always told me that after 28 weeks or so (earlier for some people) you should start doing "kick counts" daily. Have a snack, maybe some cold juice, then lye on your left side and count any movements that you feel. The count can end after you feel 10 movements or after 2 hours have past. If you do not feel 10 movements in those 2 hours than a call to your dr. is warranted.
I hope that helps a little.

If your midwife isn't concerned, then I would try not to worry. Each pregnancy is different and maybe this baby is bigger and doesn't have a lot of room to be moving around. My son's movements slowed down during the last month too, and it was because he was big and was positioning himself for birth. If it is really bothering you, maybe you could ask your midwife for another u/s to make sure everything is okay and to give you peace of mind. I'm sure everything is fine. :)
