I totally forgot to update on what I bought. I gave my husband a list of these books, and he ended up buying me 6 different Stephan King books! We're going back weekly to get more. But I was busy chasing my kids around the dang store LMAO so he grabbed the books, and what not.
One of them was Desperation! OMG!!! I finished that book in 4 hours. I couldn't put it down! It was freaking insane! LOL He bought another one called The Stand, it's the unedited version, longer version that is. I am going to start it tonight I think!
But my mind is still wrapped around Desperation! A little too graphic at some points lol... I mean I don't like picturing a male penis dripping blood....or a few other things. Good golly! My husband laughed really hard at me, when I got to a really graphic part, I tell him and he laughs. And says..."Nice isn't it?!" AHAHA Oh well... more coming!
Nora Roberts "In Death" series is really good and addicting!
Well, when I read that book i'll try not to get too mad at the end, lmao..
Oh well! =) I will have loads of fun!! I'll let you guys know what books I end up getting! I am making a juicy list for christmas presents for me too LOL
I just read Water For Elephants and it's not suspense, but there's a lot of action and intrigue and it's just such a cool book. I could not stop reading it. It's about a guy who works for a circus in the 1920's. Hope you find something you like :)
No, Ash, I totally agree with you about Dumbledore. Like I said, it was probably just a publicity stunt to get people talking about her and her books more.
As for the last book ...she seemed to do really good up till the end. Then it was like she said to herself, "Well, I've dragged this thing out long enough" and summed the whole thing up in a few pages. P-I-S-S-E-D me off!!! lol
I'm not saying it was horrible ...but imo, it could have been planned out better. I love the HP series and look forward to the rest of the movies!
Have fun at the bookstore!! I'm seriously tempted to grab one of my Target gift cards and talk DH into getting a couple baby things! lol But I'm worried we may need them later. Oh well ... we'll see!
Well good suspense and mystery is definitely Stephen King, he's awesome. Read "Mysery" waaaaaaaay better than the movie and a true page turner. Also Anne Rice books like Interview with a Vampire are great and Dan Brown Angels and Demons or Davinci code.
They released it yesterday!!! AHHH!!!! LOL I told my husband we have to buy that... We go to the store in 4 hours! EEEK! I'm literally going to walk out with a million books hehehe...
I heard that about the last Harry Potter book, but I'm hoping I can see past that, and enjoy it! LOL I don't know why she says she always thought of him as gay, because he doesn't even come off as gay, or seem to lead that way! Is that just me?
I have all the Harry Potter books (but all but the last one are in storage at my parents' house in Florida) ... truthfully, J.K. seemed to rush the last one. I was a little disappointed. But I absolutely loved all the other ones!
I was kind of annoyed when she did an interview after finishing the series and said that she always saw Dumbledore as gay. Not that I have anything against that, but why would you say that? Oh, I know! For more publicity! *sigh*
Anyway, she does have a book coming out ... Tales from the Beadle Bard ...or something like that. It's a collection of short stories placed in the world of Harry Potter (but not involving him) and commented on by Dumbledore. She wrote and illustrated it herself, and proceeds from the sales will be going to children in orphanages (or something like that). I might just have to check it out. =D
Ahaha i'll look at both, because if it was Shatter, I found a book by that guy I mentioned above, and the cover of it looks cool, lol.. Like a man or someone walking dark blue and black all around person wearing red I believe. with something in their hand...
Oh good suggestions ladies, maybe i'll just buy them all! LOL That way i'll have some reading to do for a while! =)
We have all but the last Harry Potter books, and my husband loves them, and I thought they were very well written. I hear J.k. Rowling has a new book coming out very soon, a new series.. Can't wait.
If you guys want to just name off any good books that you guys enjoyed, i can make a list of them and hand them out as my Christmas list, lol..
Oh man...Im not a big book reader and I went to borders to take my cousin to get books. I decided to get a couple...I got three and LOVED them all. The two that seem like what you are looking for.
The first one would be "The Year Of Fog" by Michelle Richmond...its about a lady that takes her fiances daughter to the beach and she loses her and tries to find her. Its really sad but I seriously could not put it down!
The Second would be "They did it with Love" Its a murder mystery that involves a bunch of couples. It really twists in the end! I would have to say that one was a more intelligently written book then the others. Its an amazing book!
ummm, not sure about that name..........but heck it may have been called "SHUTTER"....SORRY I HAVE HAD A TYPE OF PREGNANCY BRAIN SINCE ds....OOPS just realized how i was typing, but dont feel like backspacing and retyping...LOL!
I like Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker (they're Chrisitan suspense/thriller writers).
oh is it by Michael Robotham
was shatter the only thing in the name? I googled it, and found comic books, and like 500 other books with shatter in the name, lol...
i read a really good book while i was preggo with ds the name was "shatter" but for some reason i cant remember the author.....it was a suspenseful, murderous, thriller...i absolutely loved it unfortunately i loaned it to my neighbor and then they moved so i couldn't read it again!
lol
I read the review for stephan king desperation, OMG i'm so0o getting it! sheesh!
I get to research the rest now! Gosh, I read this book like 3 years ago, and it was so awesome, about this town and a guy who does magic, well almost everyone in the town ended up killing someone, including the kids...It was a freaking page turner, but of course I don't remember what it was, lmao...
it was weird, but interesting..
Oh, I totally agree with sweetangel! Dan Brown's books are great ...although I will say they are very similar and uses a lot of the same "twists". The books of his I've read are "The DaVinci Code", "Angels and Demons", "Deception Point", and "Digital Fortress". Uhm ...actually, I think those are the only four he's written (that I know of!).
And I didn't think of any more while I was doing laundry ... =D
hmmm, ahaha i have to research now, lol
i'm likely going to walk out of the book store with like 50 books AHAHAHAHA!!!
I really like all of the Dan Brown books...he's the guy who wrote DaVinci code...I wish he wrote more...I've read them all (except his poetry book!)
Well, Stephen King is good for some suspense, action, and murder ... but that's more "thriller" than suspense, I'd say. =D One of my favorite books by him is "Desperation." Good stuff, right there. =D
For something a little more calm, but still has a bit of suspense and action is "Life of Pi" ...I think by Yann Martel ...or something like that. You may want to look it up before you go hunting in the store (unless you're buying it online). =D It's about a boy from India, whose father owns a zoo. The zoo closes and the animals are sold ... family moves to America, but the ship sinks in the middle of the Pacific. The boy, Pi, finds himself on a lifeboat with a tiger and a couple other animals that were being shipped to America from their zoo. So, not only does he have to survive on a lifeboat in the middle of the Pacific ...he's gotta survive with a *tiger* on a lifeboat in the middle of the Pacific. =D Good stuff!
Okay ...I can't think of anything that's specifically suspense/action/murder ... but here's a list of books I like ... maybe if you find a review of them on Amazon.com or something you may find they interest you.
"Be More Chill" by Ned Vizzini
"The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" by A.N. Roquelaure (one of Anne Rice's nom de plures ... and this is also one of her 'adult' novels lol)
"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" by Mark Haddon
Any of the "Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis
Seriously ... my brain is not working right now ... I bet I'll think of five more when I'm downstairs doing laundry...
