hey, i know it is stressfull enough to worry about all of the effects of the newborn ,and at the same time deal with pregnancy,i am pregnant now and off of everything!! but my first pregnancy was horrible, because of being an addict, knock on wood my son was born healthy and happy,he is now almost 2. but yes, you do always have to think of the side effects of what you are doibng. like someone else said, think of how and what u go through ,well the baby is going through it 1000x's more, for real. i would notice that my son would kick really hard and move aroubnd alot if i was withdrawling. my best advice is if u are gonna stay off the meds, stay off the suboxone and stay on the opiods(oxy's). but dont go crazy, believe it or not, in my opinion i think smoking and or drinking is a lot worse..
Whether your doc prescribed them or not you need to tell him/her asap for the safety of the baby. NEVER detox on your own! It can cause you to lose the baby. Which is why women who are addicted to narcotics should be under a doctors care while detoxing and pregnant.
Why exactly are you taking them? or why did you start taking them?
Im not on oxys but I've been taking loratabs through out my whole pregnancy and I'm 39 weeks right now. I know that oxys are one of the most addictive pills out there and I'm sorry to say but most likely your baby will be born addicted as well. You don't just want to stop taking them because that can throw the baby into shock while still in the womb. Just imagine how you feel without taking one, is what your baby will feel. Just make sure you let the hospital staff know what your taking. If they know there's a chance of your baby being born addicted there's certain things they can do so that your baby isn't in withdrawal pain. They can give new borns medicine that help with the symptoms. This is what I was told when I was concerned about my baby being born addicted to tabs. But if you don't tell the hospital your baby will have a harder time because they will be unaware of the problem. They will find out eventually when they run the blood test so it's best to be up front with them. Baby withdrawal symptoms that I read about are excessive crying, nausea, vomiting, painful joints. Just a bunch of things you don't want your baby to go through. But I'm in the same situation, your not alone and I'm here if you have any questions. Take care of yourself and your baby.

Does your doctor know you're on these, or where they prescribed by them? You would need to speak to them about this, and will have to get them to help. They might not want you weaned at all. If withdrawal is severe enough it can cause a lot of problems. You never want to self wean without guidance.
