plan-b and help needed =/

i did something very rare.. i had sex and took plan b twice in the same cycle before my next period. i know theres only 3-5 days where pregnancy is a major issue when ovulation occurs 14 days after your last menstrual cycle, but im still worried. the first time i took it was about a 21/2 weeks after i started my last period and the other time was about a week after that. first time i took the plan b within 2 hours, and the second time was taken within an hour. it is now 2 weeks later and i started spotting when i should have my period. do you think because the high dosage of hormones in the plan b its pushing my period back and delaying it? or am i pregnant? i need help =/

*By saying it is like a massive birth control pill I am in no way suggesting it is a form of birth control. It can be harmful to you and your reproduction if taken regularly.

You don't need to take 2 in one day and that definitely messed your cycles up. Plan B is basically a hormone pill- it's like a massive birth control pill that causes your uterine lining to thin out (which may cause bleeding) so that a fertilized embryo would not be able to implant. It is not 100% effective and if you feel you may have conceived a pregnancy test 2 weeks after the last time you had sex would be accurate.

And I want to clear something up as this is a common misconception: you ovulate 14 days before your period, not after. And there's only about a 24-hour of opportunity to conceive.

You're period is probably messed up...especially if you took it twice in one cycle. I'm not judging you at all, as I had to take it last month as well (and I'm married with a toddler). It took me an extra couple of days to get my period and it was a weird one...spotty for days and then really bad for only one.

You should be fine...your cycle just needs to get back to normal. Can you go on the pill so you don't have to worry about it? I just started taking it again 10 days ago. I'm having surgery on April 3rd and that's why I took the Plan B to begin with...I was so paranoid that I would end up pregnant when I didn't want to be...

You're fine! Don't freak out about it...

Yeah, you just messed your cycle all up. Who knows when your period's going to start. Plan B is a emergency contraceptive, not a form of birth control. You should get on some birth control if you don't want to get pregnant.
