it's most likely NOT a blighted ovum. it is really too small to see much of anything BUT the sac at 6 weeks. i had two early ultrasounds, one at 5.3 weeks which only showed the sac and one at 8 weeks that showed the sac, yolk sac, fetal pole, baby and heartbeat. i know it's hard to but try not to worry and wait for a follow up ultrasound. good luck! :)

While it might be a blighted ovum, it could be that your dates are off and it's too early to see anything.  Have they scheduled you for another ultrasound?  I would definitely have another one in ATLEAST a week, 2 would be better, before deciding what the next steps are.  Good luck!

Im so sorry.  My first was a blighted ovum..  I would wait a week at least and request another ultrasound to see if there is any changes..  Your dates could be slightly off and in the early stages, it really cant make a difference.  When you go back, you should be able to at least see a yolk sac if the pregnancy is progressing.  2 weeks would probably be ideal to wait but hanging in limbo for that long will drive a person crazy

I hope everything works out.

Hi, This happens sometimes and it is called a bighted ovum. The egg sac keeps growing and the body still thinks it is pregnant. Have you been asked if you want a d&c if so you probably want to ask for one more ultrasound to make sure and then go ahead and have it. I'm sorry i know it is heartbreaking. Take care
