pregnancy a possibilty?

Hi all, i have a qn.. here is the situation 1st.. i'm 27 yrs old. started having my period when i was 16. it was very irregular cycle with sometimes going 6mths without a period bleeding. and when it comes it usually lasted for full 7 days with 1st 4 days being very heavy. i wasn't too concerned with irregular periods until lately.. only became sexually active when i was 26. i took the morning after pill once in july 2008. and my periods became even more of out whack. wasnt having sex from aug 08 until early march 09. so i wasnt too concern abt missing a period before jan 09 and i didnt keep track of the exact dates. but my last flow in feb ended on 23rd feb after about 2 weeks of very little flow. (there is blood every day but very very little). on the 28th feb i went to the DR to get my OC pills (gynera) which the DR told me to start taking on the 1st day of my next flow. then i had sex on 2nd mar and 13 march(both protected but condoms could hv leaked on both occasions.) took a HPT on the weekend of 20th mar. it was negative. i had some light bleeding on the 27 mar which lasted for a day. and i took my 1st OC pill on the 28 mar thinking i was having my flow. i am still taking the OC pills. i'm still in college finishing up my education and i really really dun want to be pregnant..

so my qns are.. could i be pregnant? should i take another HPT? is the bleeding on the 27 mar my period? could my OC pills caused the bleeding to cease? so thank you in advance to those who can help me answer the qns.

It's really difficult to say what could be going on because you are definitely very irregular, which could be a sign of a fertility problem, which could make it harder to conceive (did the doctor check any of that out?). Obviously the only true way to prevent pregnancy is not having sex at all- which I'm sure you know that. So if you do have unprotected sex while on the birth control/ovulation control (is that what OC stands for?) you can still get pregnant. It will probably regulate you much better.

I would think that you're not pregnant. You could always re-test now. If it is still negative I highly doubt you are pregnant because it's been more than two weeks since the last time you had sex (March 13th). If it is positive, discontinue taking your OC and contact your doctor. I know many mommas who finished college and still had their babies. So even if it isn't ideal you can still do it!

Let us know if it ends up being positive or negative.
