pregnancy

My ankles and calves look like tree trunks. My baby will be born in a couple of weeks and I am wondering if this has anything to do with my prenancy?  I do not have insurance and I have to be either in labor or distress to go to the hospital. I have called 911. Any help would be great.

You need to go get your blood pressure checked. You can go to the walmart pharmacy and get it checked for free there. If it is high go to the er. If it's ok don't sress. I was soooooo swollen at the end of my first pregnancy. It was also the end of July and hot as hell outside. What worked well for me was soking them in a cold tub of water and drink lots of fluid

I agree with the above statements it is possible and probable that your swelling is just due to normal pregnancy BUT it can also be a sign of pre eclampsia  which can be dangerous and life threatening to you and the baby

Here are some signs to watch out for

Hypertension
Swelling or Edema
Proteinuria - Protein in the urine
Sudden Weight Gain
Headache
Nausea or Vomiting
Changes in Vision
Racing pulse, mental confusion, heightened anxiety, trouble catching your breath
Stomach or Right Shoulder Pain
Lower back pain
Hyperreflexia

I wonder where you live that you cannot get paid  insurance.  I suppose I live in a sheltered bubble & have no idea about the rest of the world...

I agree that you need to see a doctor.  Swelling can be dangerous.  It can get so bad, your blood pressure can go way up, too much protein in your urine...  all kinds of thing.  It can cause seizures.  You need to be checked.

Are you on your feet a lot?  or perhaps sitting at a desk where your legs dangle?  drinking soda?  all of this can help cause swelling.

i was very swollen too, but there is a chance you have preclampsia. Have you had your blood pressure checked in the last few days?  I would try to see a Dr even if its costly preclampsia is very unsafe to have for you and the baby. Good luck hopefully you are just swollen.
