pregnant & can't stop coughing

I am 10 weeks pregnant & for the last week I have been coughing.  (this certainly doesn't make the severe nausea any better)

anyway, the coughing has gotten much worse.  I can berely sleep, I coughed so much last night.  Other than the cough, I don't have any other cold symptoms really....  It is kinda a dry cough, with a tickle that makes it feel something is stuck in my throat.  The caugh is very harsh & is making me horse.

I have a list of medicines I can take (from my doctor)
The list says nothing with alcohol....  
robotussin is on that list, but there are so many diferrent kinds!!!!!  I am so confused on what is safe.  Regular robutussin?  it just says robutussin.  All the ones at the store say robutussin something... not regular.  Nothing says if it has alcohol in it or not.

I did pick up the cepacol throat lozenges (they were on the list.  finally, something easy to find!)  All these did was make a numb spot in my throat that made me feel like there was a lump of hair in there.  I kept thinking about this & it made me puke.

Sorry I am getting so long here....  Basically, What do I take?  The list I have is so vauge.

thanks for the info... unfortunately, The town i live in is a really OLD town.  There are a lot of Amish & mennonite people around here.  Horse & buggy, home schooling... the whole bit.  The houses are giant victorian types...  seriously, it's like a time warp.  My daughter does go to the public school & she desperately wants to play with the neighbor girls.  Everyone is nice, but sometimes I feel like they are looking at us like we could burst into flames at any minute.

We have no walgreens, no cvs, nada.  There is a walmart.  If I want any of those other stores it is about an hour away.  I don't paticularly feel like traveling when I don't feel well.  My husband goes that way a lot (he is on a  big Lowes home improvement kick)  I can never think of anything I need when he asks (pregnancy brain?)  

anyway, thanks.  It's just hard for me to find some of the medicines on the list here.

if you ever have questions about medicines and their ingredients you can always ask the pharmacist at walgreen/cvs/walmart... they are trained in otc meds too!! hope you feel better :)

I drank so much oj, I'm suprised its not being produced from my breasts!

I did get a flu shot on Nov 2nd & I do take prenatals.  

should I put the honey & lemon into tea or something?

You could also try gargling salt water, taking extra vitamin c, drinking warm honey & lemon water and taking zinc.

I'm not sure if there is such a thing as plain robetussin?  (sp? also?)

Tylenol cold products are fine. My list also says any non DM robitession. (sp?) I think you can check the ingredient list for alcohol too. Not sure though, never tried. I hope you feel better soon!!
