pregnant?

I was supposed to start my period on Jan 17th and have no sign of it coming on. My boyfriend and I always have sex with a condom, but at the end of December one of them broke, so he came inside of me. I took the morning after pill within the time frame I was supposed to. I had bleeding from taking that pill a week later, which I read was a normal side effect. On the day I was supposed to start my period I had dark brown spotting which lasted for that day and the next day and then it stopped. I had thought that would be the beginning of my period, but nothing has happened so far. I took a dollar store pregnancy test this last Monday, but it came out negative. I'm not sure if I trust that test though. I feel like I should have started my period by now, even having taken the morning after pill. It says that you are supposed to start your period fairly close to the time you normally would start, but I'm really late.  I've been having light cramping for a while now and keep thinking I will start, but nothing. Are dollar store tests reliable? Or should I just go buy a test from the pharmacy which are around 15 bucks?

Thanks. I'll be taking another test on Monday, but I am thinking about just buying the other test to feel better about the results of it.

The tests are fine.  I have taken them and wasted money on other getting the same results.

Unfortunately nothing is fool proof.

The pill that you took could have affected more than others.  The test you took was on the day you should have started your period.  I would suggest that you take another one sometime this weekend. Although I think the best way to know immediately is get a doctor to order a BETA test on you.  It is a quantitative test that lets you know what your hCG levels are.
