quick health question

Hey I've just got a quick question. Every since I was about 6 or 7 weeks along (I'm now 10 weeks) I keep getting the sensation in my chest of my heart beating to hard for a couple beats and then it goes back to normal. Is this normal at all? I thought it was related to my quitting smoking and drinking caffeine but thar was over a month ago and it hasn't gotten better and I'm worried and its 2 weeks till my next appointment.

I get it too when I'm pregnant, I actually joke with my hubby that when my heart beats hard I know for sure I'm pg. This is my third pregnancy and it has always happened exactly how you say, but when I'm not pg it does not happen, my blood pressure has never been off. It never hurts to double check with your doc either, but I know it helps knowing others go through the same thing :)

Don't stress about it, the previous post is 100% right, its nothing to worry about and I'm sure your doctor will tell you its completely normal during pregnancy.

I have an arythmia and tachycardia, and when I got pregnant, it made it a million times worse! It was beig controlled very well by medicine, but now that I'm pregnant I'm on two different meds and higher dosage. Being pregnant will bring out symptoms. I'd definitely let your doctor know! My blood pressure is always fine but my heart rate got up to almost 180... But would drop back down. Definitely need to make sure it isn't anything that they might need to keep an eye on. Hope you feel better, I know how scary it can be!

ok, thanx, no offense to anyone else but your the only one to make it not seem like something to panic about. I will definitely try and do that, I try my best to avoid caffeine anyway but i will try and be alittle more careful about other things.

Don't worry, its just heart palpitations. They are very common in pregnancies. It's caused by all that extra blood volume your body has and your heart has to pump. Try to avoid all caffeine. I actually have a heart beat issue that I take a beta blocked for but it always gets bad when I'm pregnant. Try to relax and avoid stimulants like caffeine, chocolate, etc.

no there really arent any other symptoms, at least not ones without other explaination (like nausea....im always nausious but its just morning sickness, i know that for sure) and it doesnt hurt or anything it just feels like my heart beats extra hard for a couple beats then goes back to normal....it doesnt really bother me except that sometimes it takes my breath away for a sec...but then im fine, like nothing was ever wrong...I plan to talk to my doctor but i dont have an appointment til the 23rd and my doc is hard to get ahold of, and my insurance is touchy about extra appointments cuz its state insurance.

When I was pregnant with my first, I had a tachycardia, which sounds like what you're explaining. If you mention it to your doctor, you may have to wear a halter monitor for 24 hours. It could be perfectly normal, but get it checked out just in case.

before pregnancy i developed a issue with my heart.. its nothing serious or to worry about and can easily be controlled by a beta blocker... my heart races randomly for absolutly no reason. i went to a cardiologist, had a stress test done and ekgs and on 2 diff occasions had to wear a 30 day heart monitor.. when i would get symptoms i would push the button to record my heart. it came back that my rhythm was perfect and i had a strong her BUT it just races sometimes... since pregnancy its gotten worst. and the funny part is my blood pressure is ALWAYS perfect

i would call your OB a let them know. he might suggest you see a cardiologist to make sure its nothing serious. you might need a beta blocker

is your blood pressure high? Def sounds like something to do with that. I would call ur dr ASAP cuz high blood pressure and pregnancy is a dangerous mix... Good luck!
