rolling over on my back

hey so i keep rolling over on my back all the time in my sleep..i wake up a lot in the middle of the night but i don't think i wake up from that..im never uncomfortable when i wake up on my back, but i still roll back over onto my side. im really worried it's hurting the baby when i do this..how do i stop? ive tried putting a pillow behind me on my side, but if i roll over onto my other side then my back is exposed again. any suggestions on how to stay on my sides? im still relatively small for being 6 1/2 months, so do you think im even big enough for it to matter yet?

The reason you shouldn't sleep on your back is because its dangerous to YOU not your baby.  The extra weight from your baby and uterus can press on the nerves and blood vessels going to your brain and cut off your oxygen!!! So its probably ok for now and quite confortable, but you might want to start trying to get into a routing of laying on your side!

I took it once but woke up all drowsy. I was put on leave early because of swelling so I wound up sleeping a lot during the day. Those pillows only made me feel irritated because when I would turn I would have to grab the pillow and my belly. My son was a big boy so my belly was heavy.

yes mami, she is. I love the woman, but I thought that particular piece of advice was exceptionally annoying.

tarajanes it's kinda like one of those but this one is a giant horseshoe and it's supposed to keep it's shape and not get twisted....it's kind of expensive but we're about to get our tax return (fingers crossed) so I'm splurging, LOL.

I have to go get my daughter to stop teasing the dog at the moment...is this day over yet?

I'm 35 weeks as of today and I go to sleep on my left side (or right side, depends if I'm having leg cramps, like always happens) and then I wake up and I'm on my back! It's annoying but I don't feel uncomfortable at all. A couple of people told me "you won't be able to lay on your back but only cause you'll feel you cant breathe" but this hasnt happened to me at all, I don't know if its cause the baby is smaller or what

good to cuddle up to,and great relief for the belly.

I had gallstones and that hurt worse than labor. How can someone say something they have no experience with. Your SIL is annoying...lol.

but then...SIL is also the one who told me "labor hurts more than kidney stones" when I was pregnant and had kidney stones...even though she's never actually delivered vaginally OR had kidney stones...the first thing I told her after DD was born was "kidney stones hurt WAY worse than L&D" and...guess what? she got all pissy. hates to be wrong.

I know I always hated that saying mami....I'm like 38wks with DD and saying how tired I was...and people would say that to me...I wanted to scratch people's eyes out. I remember SPECIFICALLY telling my SIL after my daughter was born "I'm much less tired now" and she got all pissy about it.

I love the comment sleep now cause when the baby is born you're not going to sleep at all...yeah right! Its like a cruel joke. My doctor actually said I could take a Tylenol PM once a week to catch up on sleep.

I remember my entire 36-40wks being like that...everyone says you sleep less once the baby's there, but that's not entirely true IMO. with my daughter I was only awake when she was, and a few hours during the day, and asleep the rest of the time...but from 36-40wks I never slept and I was always trying to. But I did walk..a lot.

I'm going to try buying one of those pregnancy cradle pillows that supports you front and back and see if that helps...with my daughter by 40wks my belly was so huge that I was always feeling the ligaments pulling and the pain of the weight of everything which is part of what kept me awake....so maybe this pillow will help support my belly and keep me from rolling onto my back...

i'm buying it this weekend, suppose I'll let everyone know how it works out...

you might want to try it, worrieddd!

Right now i wish i could just sleep.ive never felt so tired like this, not even with my son many years ago.I loved to sleep on my back and tummy.ha fat chance of that now.
at the moment I move from bed to sofa to floor.anywhere just to get comfortable and sleep....The joys..

I know I remember you're just happy to find any comfort at that point...lol. I was always a back sleeper so it was a very difficult adjustment.

There will come a point during pregnancy where she won't be able to stay on her back because of the weight of the baby. That was all I was trying to say.

Tarajanes I highly doubt my doctor would have told me it was ok as long as I was comfortable just the same as laying on the stomach. When you get big enough its when it is impossible to do either. It isn't necessary to force your body to stay on one side. People on this forum are so argumentative. Medhelp really has changed I'm going to stick with the people I've spoken to for 4 years on here. Its too exhausting.

Its not a big deal when it starts becoming uncomfortable for you then you will stop sleeping on your back.
