I have to agree with everyone else on here what changed that you were not worried about this at the time but the next day you are concerned?  As a pregnant woman you must keep your baby's safety and health in mind before anything else. Please think about this before getting a tattoo, piercing, drinking alcohol, taking medications or vitamins and even smoking. You must keep your body safe and protected in order to keep your unborn baby protected. It is not fair to your unborn baby, they cannot fend for themselves, they rely on you to keep them safe and alive. Please be more careful and mindful in the future if not for yourself than for your child.

I think the baby is probably okay, but honestly...if you weren't scared about the possible damages WHILE you got a tattoo, why are you worried now? I am assuming the original poster knew she was pregnant, and knew the risks of getting "ink" while pregnant, and I think it is very negligent to be scared AFTER the tattoo is done.

I debated for a very long time about getting a tattoo covered up while early in my pregnancy, but I wasn't able to do so because of the fact that I wanted the piece of mine, that I didn't hurt my baby by getting that tattoo.

And as far as only some states caring about whether the woman is pregnant before getting a tattoo or piercing, there is no "law" that states a tattoo or piercing cannot be done on a pregnant woman, it is based on the artists personal willingness to tattoo an expecting mother.

I got my belly button pierced LONG ago and (I know it's not a tat) in the paperwork I signed it did state that if I was pregnant they withhold the right to refuse to do it or if I am and it's not noticeable, I don't say anything and something happens to the baby they are not held liable.

The guy who did the piercing asked me 10 times if I was pregnant or not. of course at the time I was 16 so I wasn't.

Yeah I cant see how far along she is on my phone but not a good idea to get it so late in your pregnancy. You had one month you should have waited instead of being selfish and where ever you got it should be sued.

hey maybe she did get it from some whack job parlor but i did assume not because of how far out she is but maybe only the parlors in california care if ur knocked up or not. and yea i agree the baby is probably fine. but under the assumtion that she went else where she should watch for infection and whatever else to make sure she wasnt exposed to a disease.

Yeah but people are assuming she didnt get it at a tattoo parlor it is quite possible she did. Heck maybe she only found out this morning she is pregnant (unlikely) and is worried. We never know the circumstances so its better not to assume.

She could be super early in her pregnancy in which case the tattooist wouldnt have known she was pregnant. As long as you got it at tattoo parlor that is sterile and clean there shouldnt be a problem. Only real concern is that your body is going to focus on healing your body instead of creating a baby but people have been through way more severe trauma during pregnancy without any side effects to baby. Also, they say not to get any tattoos later in pregnancy because your skin is stretched and wont turn out right.

ur not supposed to because of the endorphines or something it sends thru ur body. u should notify ur doctor but didnt u know u shouldnt since u posted right after doing it? i mean ur baby will probably be fine but try not to take those risks ur almost there and then u can get all the tatoos u want:) but just tell ur doc and see what he says and it wasnt a shop because they woulda seen ur belly and said no way so u also need to watch for infection good luck to u and ur baby.

There shouldn't be an issue if the equipment was sterile.  Menton to your doctor at your next appointment.

I was ALWAYS told you can't get Tattoo's and peircings whilst pregnant.. Because it can lead to infections like HIV and Hepitius B (I cant spell sorry)

Tattoos can become infected, but only if they are not taken care of properly, or if you went to a dirty shop. BUT...I will say this...ink from tattoos absolutely 100% does NOT go into your bloodstream. You would probably become extremely ill if it did. Needles in a tattoo machine are like pins, and only make it to the dermal layer (2nd layer) of the skin, not to your veins. So the concern of getting "ink poisoning", or anything along those lines, is completely irrational. The best answer I can give is (with myself being 4 weeks along, and already heavily tattooed), wait to get a tattoo or peircing until after you've had the baby and are done breastfeeding. It's not worth the risk of spreading an infection (NOT ink poisoning) to your unborn child. Plus, think of the inspiration you'll have for that next tattoo once the baby's born.
its not so much the ink poisoning that is the risk, but more just having your body go through trauma, and the rule any self resepcting artist is that people who are pregnant SHOULD NOT BE TATTOOED OR PIERCED! period. because both of these things causes your body pain and trauma, and when youre body feels pain, your body reacts in a physiological manner, and that stress and tension could harm your child. why risk it? just wait the 9 months and get it done then.
Note: the ink in the blood stream is not the concern with tattoos, it is the possible blood born pathogens that can be transmitted by improperly cleaned tools. Hepatitis B, HIV, and AIDS are a few of the most common diseases spread by contact with infected blood. Because a fetus' blood circulates through the mother's body first, it is exposed to any infection the mother has. JUST WAIT!

You should NOT get a tattoo while pregnant as the huge amount of adrenaline your body produces can cause miscarriage you are also very prone to get a blood infection no matter how clean your tattoo parlour is and your body is trying to keep your buba safe (information taken from my tattoo artist and confirmed by other tattoo artists i have spoken to)

Tattoo artists don't normally tattoo people who are pregnant, My boyfriends sister was refused a tatto whilst being pregnant....

It's shouldnt be too much bother, Just tell your Midwife or OB at your next apt and dont get anymore.

Congratulations btw
