serum hcg test?

What exactly does a serum hcg blood test mean? this is the only blood work my doc ordered for now. is this the test that tells you the beta levels?

oh thanks. the tech didnt say anything about the beats per minute. And there are lots of abbr on the side of my ultrasound pic that i dont know what they mean either.

BPM is bearts perminute, how fast the babys heart beart was during your scan.  Congrats on your pregnancy

aww, how fun, it has to be a big relief to see the heart beating. did you find out the BPM?
Well i have no idea why he ordered the serum quant i just know what they are from having them, my doctor had me do four of them every other day, then a last one 2 weeks later.

he didnt order any more until my next appointment probably, which is jan 3rd. But i did get an ultrasound done today to check things out, and we saw the baby, sac, yolk sac, and heartbeat and everything

It tells you the number amount of HCG you have in your blood. He might order another one two days later to know the pregnancy is viable by the number doubling.
