Most miscarriages occur to genetic anomolies and there really is nothing to blame it on. Remember that prenatal means "before pregnancy" so it is definitely important to continue taking your vitamins, especially Folic Acid which prevents neural tube defects.

It's very important to take folic acid (doesn't matter if it's in a multi vitamin or on it's own) while trying to concieve and while pregnant. Folic acid actually AIDS in cell reproduction, which is vital for a growing baby. After my ectopic pregnancy and methotrexate shot, I was needing to take extra folic acid before and during this pregnancy. On top of my prenatal vitamin, I was taking 4,000 times the recommended amount of folic acid (per my doctors' instructions and prescription). My dr let me stop taking so many at 17 weeks when ultrasound proved we were past important milestones of great growth. Today is my 6 month mark and baby Ava is doing great! She jabbed her foot out so far today I could grab it!

So, keep taking your vitamins. And P.S. - you are getting folic acid from other food sources and it's nearly impossible to NOT have some folic acid, so I wouldn't contribute a miscarriage to folic acid. It's so important to have folic acid that many governments have mandated that folic acid be fortified into certain foods.

I too suffered a miscarriage and my doctor told me that I could try right away because it was so early in the pregnancy (5w) and she highly recommended continuing to take my prenatal vitamins. So I've continued to take them since (september) and although I haven't gotten my BFP yet (fingers crossed it will happen soon) my hair and nails have been growing nicely from the vitamins.

Best of luck to you

I agree.  Keep on taking your vitamins while ttc and when pregnant, and even after you have the baby if you plan on breast feeding.  I had a chemical pregnancy while taking prenatal vitamins, but got pregnant 5 months later - still taking the vitamins and my son is 13 months old.  I continued taking them because I was nursing and found out I was pregnant again when he was 10 months old.  I'm now 19 weeks pregnant with that one and all the while taking prenatal vitamins!  They are good for the babies and you!  Best of luck to you!

Take it. I don't think there are any links to miscarriage and folic acid. My friend had the same thing happen as you. She went in for a 12 week check up and they found the baby had passed at 8-10 wks. She had a d&c and they did testing on the tissue they retrieved. They found nothing wrong with her (it would have been a girl). No explanation. So sometimes sh** things can happen for no reason. Keep taking prenatals and keep ttc. I've heard it can actually be easier to conceive after a d&c, fresh uterine bed for the baby to snuggle up in.

Good luck!
