My first had his nights and days mixed up too. We were told to keep the light on in that room and do what we had to do in there too(vacuum, fold clothes and have a convo, etc) don't make it as peaceful as night time. To keep baby awake is hard, you can talk to them and play, but my son has fallen asleep on me midplay severa times. If they're tired enough, they're gna fall asleep anyways. If its not just a nap and baby is trying to sleep like it's night, you can also pick him up after an hr and change his diaper which should wake him. Then at night, keep light to a minimum,  keep all noises down, and let him wake on his own. He should catch on pretty quick.

open the curtains when he sleeps during the day, let him wake up to a beautiful bright day, also don't be afraid of making too much noise when he sleeps, good luck <3

babies dont know the difference between day and night, early evening is also called the witching hour as young babies are almost always unsettled at this time of the day, if your breastfeeding its also the time when your milk is at its lowest, make sure your drinking at least 1 glass of water everytime you feed, most of the time its due to gas as well as from the day feeds it gets caught in the bowels and by this time, some babies struggles to pass wind, sometimes giving the a warm bath at this time can help to settle them, it just takes a bit of time for them to realise the difference and usually by 6-8 wks you will notice a big difference :)
