stretch marks!!!! does cocoa butter help?

I've been reading a lot about stretch marks solutions. And cocoa butter was mentioned. Do any of you ladies have any experience with using cocoa butter? Does it really work? =)

Im going to be 34 weeks tomorrow and have no stretch marks, at least not yet. My dr says nothing can prevent or get that deep down in your skin to stop stretchmarks. But drinking lots  of water helps moiserize your skin.

I haven't gotten any stretchmarks (37 weeks) and I use regular lotion.  I tried to use cocoa-butter but my skin is too sensitive to cocoa and so I broke out in very very itchy hives.  So I didn't use anything other than my regular vasseline body lotion.
Its just genetic.  lotion does help keep some of the itching down.  Belly itches cause you grow more hair on your belly and it itches or tickles.

i've got one small stretch mark this time. i do think it's in the genes, to be honest. bio oil reduces the appearance of scars/stretchmarks - it won't stop you from getting them. i'm on my 4th baby now and have two small stretchmarks that are barely noticable and all the women in my family have fared the same way.

i have a cream that i use everyday....its meant for pregnant women, it says it helps prevent and reduce stretch marks. Its called Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula and it has Vitamin E, Collagen, Shea Butter, and Elastin. I put it on myself everyday during my last pregnancy, and yes i got stretch marks, but not much...i also put it on after i gave birth and it has reduced my marks soo much. When you look at my tummy you can barely see any now.

diela- just because your mom has them doesn't mean that somewhere down the line someone had GREAT elasticity and you were blessed to get that wonderful gene. Now share your wonderful gene with ME! LOL!

I used Palmer's cocoa butter when I was pregnant with DS and now I'm using it again.  I don't have any stretch marks on my tummy - so, whether it was due to using that cream or not, I'm not taking any chances...I'm using it again! ;-)  I have ugly stretch marks on the tops of my breasts, though...Didn't use the Palmers there last time, but I am now....and (it could be my imagination) they seem to be fading a bit....

My nurse has so nicely informed me (after seeing my horrible stretch marks) that if you are going to get them you are going to get them. I used palmers stretch mark lotion EVERY day/ night and it didn't do ANYTHING!!! My stretch marks are HORRIBLE! LoL. It's something you either get lucky with or don't.

Okay..many probably will not agree with me on this.. but i am now 32 weeks with my 2nd baby.. and i went over due with my first baby and i havent had any stretchmark yet... and what do i do every day...? twice of mosturizing with palmer's stretchmark cream.. that is all..

some people said that weight gain plays important factor.. maybe so.. but i gained 35 lbs with my first and now already gained 35lbs with my second..and no stretch mark..(well, i have another 8 weeks to go with this pregnancy and praying that this is still true by the time i deliver..)

and some people said it is genetic.. my mom has tons of them..and they are very very very bad stretchmark... it is not just dark, they look like broken skin and kinda holy.. so... not because of genetic neither for my case...

so I dont really know what else helped if it is not the cream that i apply twice a day..? or may be i am just plain lucky..? lol..!

I've used it every night with both pregnancies and even while I'm lucky on the stretch mark front I love the way it makes my skin feel. I'm 31 weeks now and my skin itches so bad the cocoa butter really feels great.

No- there is actually nothing that can prevent stretchmarks. But it may reduce how intense they become. Stretchmarks have more to do with genetics than anything. Overweight women and women whose bellies grow incredibly fast (such as with the case with multiples) results in stretchmarks as well, no matter what they try.

But it will smell great and keep your itchy skin soft!
