sweep today, advice plz

so i am 39+4 and my midwife said im 1cm dilated and my cervix is soft, my sweep wasnt painful and she said this was because my cervix had started to come round... what does that mean? also ive had some dark blood on a pad only a little bit is that normal? do u think im close?

It's normal to have the bloody show after a sweep. I had like 5 or 6 sweeps....the first few didn't do a darn thing for me. The last one for sure did but I was already having light contractions before she did it. Hopefully it'll help you out though!

from what my impression of what she was saying is that since your already starting to dilate and your cervix is starting to get soft it is not as painful when its not that dilated at all. i do belive it is normal having blood after the sweep because she was just trying to take the mucus plug out that way it might get labor to start. the doctors did it to me too and they told me it would be normal but you just might want to call your doctor to be sure it is normal.
