well the contractions tapered off..im still having them but they're irregular and if anything farther apart. no more bloody mucous..i wonder if this is bad sign or if i can still be hopeful?
If you read my post above you will see that I had blood tinged mucus starting right after mine along with contractions...it was done on a thursday and by monday he was here so hopefully it got things going for you as well.
well my doctor did it for me..im 50% effaced and she said about 1-1 1/2. im not really sure which one though lol. it made me bleed and i have a little bit of bloody mucous and contractions. she said last time she checked me that i had a very soft cervix so i'm hoping that it works for me. im gonna go on a pretty intense walk here in a few minutes. :)
I've never had that done, but I hear that it's pretty painful
I had mine done two days ago at my 40 week appointment. Since then I have had spotting, mucus discharge without and without blood, and some mild back pain. I have also felt more pressure. Not sure if it is any sign of impending labor at this point, but I will keep you posted.
My dr did one when I was almost a week late, then again when I was almost 2 weeks late. It didn't work at all the first time, but the second time I was in labor (contractions 10 min apart) about 2-3 hours after the apt, then 24+ hours later I gave birth.
It seems to only really work when your body is "ready" to go into labor. I was 3cm from about 36 weeks and at the first time my dr did the sweep I was 50-75%. Then at the second time I was 75%.
It is always worth a try, my dr wouldn't even try it till i was past my due date. And the second time, if it didn't work I'd have to schedule an induction the next day so I was SO glad it did work!
I had this done about a week before my due date and it did nothing for me. They finally induced 2 days before my due date. ( I have 2 herniated discs in my back and broke my neck when I was 15 so being pregnant is no fun for me at all). I was just in so much pain that I was miserable that is why they induced my labor. I was 2cm when they swept the membranes, but I had been dilated for a while, so there is no telling how long past my due date I could have gone. If they do it I hope it works for you. It is really not all that comfortable. Good luck.
With one of my pregnancies my doc did a sweep at my 38 wk appt (on a Thursday). At the time I was 2 cm and 50%. That afternoon I had some blood tinged mucus and felt more pressure than normal. The next morning (Friday) I was having pressure and contractions of and on all day. By Saturday I had a lot of brown & red tinged mucus, my contractions were fairly frequent and a little stronger. On Sunday I had a little bit of mucus and contractions on and off. I woke up Monday at 630 am and felt what I thought was fluid leaking. I went to L & D they did a swab and said I wasn't, I was still 2cm and 50% and sent me home. Throughout the morning my contractions got stronger so I called my ob who said to go BACK to L & D. I got there around 330 pm my contractions were strong and anywhere from 5-10 min apart. My water hadn't broken but WAS leaking. I was 5 cm and 75%. They admitted me at that point. By 430 I was 6-7 cm and baby was lower. A few minutes later my water broke. My son was born at 630 that evening.
I really feel that the membrane sweep along with walking a little every night really helped get things going with him. He was born 10 days before his due date and was perfectly healthy.
last time they checked i was what she called an easy 1..she said my cervix is very soft so i'm hoping for 2 tomorrow.
my doctor wouldnt do one until my due date and only if i was 2cm...i wasnt 2 cm on my due date so i didnt get one but i ended up going into labor the next day so it was all good lol! ive heard good things about them tho so i hope u get to try it! but i also heard u have to b dilated enough to get 2 fingers in...ru dilated?
