trying to figure out when I ovulate

Hello everyone! I am trying to figure out when I ovulate. I use the MH app on my phone which tells me my fertal and when i should be ovulating but i am not 100% sure if I ovulate 14 days before my period. So I have been tracking BBT. I started tracking a few days before my last period. My last period was on September 22nd. On Friday the 23rd through Mondayday the 26th my BBT was 95.9, yesterday it was 96.1 and today it went up to 96.4.  I read somewhere when the temp spikes means your ovulating.  Is this true?  Anyone that can clarify this for me would be great!

Well good luck when you guys do officially start! Letting it happen when it happens is the best way to look at it too. Instead of stressing and all that, just make it fun for the two of you.

Great advise.  We have not officially started yet but i am trying to get a handle on when I ovulate and getting more intune with my body.  We have said when we move to our new home which wont be until sometime in March that we will activly start but in the mean time if it happends it happends.  Like i said i just want to try to get a handle on it more.  I really appreicate the info you gave me.  I will track the CM as well.  Based on that I am not ready to ovulate so perhaps the getting up is throwing off the BMT.

That definitely would make a difference. BBT is basal body temperature, the temperature when your body is at rest. I think you should try to take it while you're still lying down and see if that helps, getting up and moving so much you might look like you've just ovulated but it could just be you've made it rise enough to look like a spike, by being up moving around. Good luck! I stopped after a while mostly because I didn't remember to take it and I'd get woken up earlier than I needed to take it cause of my son...You can also check your cervical mucous, it gets like the consistency of egg whites, and resembles it when it's your "fertile" time. If it's too difficult to try to track your BTT, then I suggest this...if you have a regular period, count back 14 days from the day your period started, and every month start having sex every other day from 6 days before and a few days after...for example a 28 day cycle on day 8 or 10 start having sex every other day, until a few days after day 14, and if you have irregular periods like I do then start a few days before the shortest and longest...for example 30 day cycle start, ovulation would be around day 15, so start on 11, and long 39 days, ovulation would be on day 25 so have sex every other day from day 11 to 25...you'd be having sex a lot, BUT you would be sure to have sex around the day you ovulate. My husband and I did it. It took us a total of 9 months trying to get our daughter, but we had a three month break in between...so it was actually six consecutive months. Don't worry if you don't get pregnant right away, if you are in fact trying. It can take a healthy couple a year or more..

Thanks for the info.  I do take it the same time everyday but i do it in the bathroom so i wakeup walk to the bathroom and take it.  That might make a difference. I will keep tracking.

When your temp spikes at least .4 degrees it means you have ovulated the day before. Your temp will go up and stay up then start to decrease before you start your period. Most women do ovulate 14 days before but some don't. Some have short luteal phases (the time between ovulation and the next period) and some have longer ones, longer or shorter can cause possible issues with fertility. It'll take you a couple months to really pin point ovulation with BBT tracking. Are you taking your temp at the exact same time everyday, without even sitting up? Moving, even a little bit can cause your temperature to go up, and you're supposed to have at least three consecutive hours of sleep before you take your temp. Make sure you have the thermometer somewhere close so you don't have to move much, I had mine on the headboard of our bed, or a side table.
