ultrasound accuracy

I am wondering how accurate transvanginal ultrasounds are? and if it is possible for them to be off by a whole month? or if it is even possible for a fetal heart beat to be dectected at 4 weeks? please help me out because i am not sure when i exactly ovulated and i really question the doctors estimates.

Just to let you know when you are pregnant they tack on an extra 2 weeks. So when you find out you are pregnant you concieved 2 weeks before but they are counting you as already being at 4 weeks. Reason is that its easier to date from your lmp than conception since a lot of people don't know when they ovulate.

No heartbeat until week 6-7. If your ultrasound was off by a whole month at four weeks that would mean you haven't even ovulated yet you still have AF and not pregnant.

What is the issue, exactly?  Did the doctor not see something and you expected it, or did he see something when you didn't expect it yet?

No it won't be off by a month. Early ultrasounds are normally no more than a week or so off. Like said above you would be lucky to see anything at 4 weeks pregnant, let alone a heartbeat.

Hi
It realy does depend how good the machine is. I had one at 4 weeks they could only see an empty sac but only just and they still wasnt sure it is was there! No a heartbeat can not be found at 4 weeks you would be extremely lucky to see anything.

Yes they can be different from what you expect.
