I had the screening done at 11 Weeks...went to see a geneticist and they did an ultrasound there to check baby's neck measurement and some other things and I was able to see my little one dancing around...they also did a finger ***** test to check for any other problems...I say go for it
I think they are important because first of all they need to know if there is a baby i remember last time i was pregnant i went to my ob n they did an u/s thanxs to that i found out i had a blighted oveum which is gestational sack but no baby:( n i hAd all the symptoms of pregnancy. I really think it helps but like the others said its up to u if u are comfortable with what the doc is doin its ok... Good luck to u!
I had them done. I am almost 15 weeks and I have had about 6-7 u/s done. My insurance covered the tests and I think they are important to have done.
A lot of those test and u/s that are done in the 1st trimester is primarily to make sure the baby has a heartbeat and that there are no abnormalties or problems with the baby.
It really depends on your age, and the calculated risks due to your age, I have had them done since the age of 30 with each of my pregnancies, if you feel comfortab le with your doctors decision, go with it, if not explain to him that you would like to have them done, the non invasive one is done at around 12 wks and involves a blood test and u/s, it would be a good idea to see if your insurance covers it so you know where you stand :)
I could not wait that long...there is tons of important things going on in the first trimester.. The heart beat to see how far along you are..my first ob told me that I want important enough at 6 Weeks...i got a new doctor and got to see the heartbeat the next day :-)
