varicose veins or blood clot???

With my first pregnancy I developed many spider veins on my legs. This pregnancy i have developed some varicose veins. I have one that is protruding on my left inner calf and is right on top of bad spider vein. It is tender to the touch and i can feel a little discomfort walking up and down stairs. Is this normal or could it actually be a blood clot? It is not warm to the touch just painful and tender.

Sorry for the typos! I've a wriggly 5wk old in my arms!

PS. I believe it is best to treat varicose veins as early as possible, my ex husband ended up having to have an op to strip the veins (shudder!) as he left treatment for far too long and ended up in a lot of pain.

Varicose veins are painful, I would mention it to your doc as they will be able to tell the difference between them and blood clots, I'm nlt sure that blood clots are usually visible, but you are def better to get them checked out. There are treatments for varicose veins in injection form which really hell, but I'm not sure if that could be done while you are pregmant. Your doc will be able to advise best.
