True...who knows but I know thats what they told me. My water broke with my 1st baby and I KNEW it - I was in bed and felt weird and as soon as I stood up it was a wave of stuff running lol. I ran to the bathroom and sat on the toilet. Def something that was neat to experience Id say. Bc Ill prob never get the chance again since my c-sections are scheduled.
That's funny! My water broke in the bathtub (at 39 weeks 4 days) and I sure knew. It felt like a fire hose. (In fact, I remember being glad I was in the tub at the time.) Maybe that doc was thinking of someone with more of a seeping of amniotic fluid from a small pinhole leak, which could presumably be confused with bathwater coming out of the vagina.
Its ok until you are like 36 weeks I think and then my dr says no bc they dont want your water to break or something and you not to know.
great reply annie, wish i could mark that as best answer. ; )
You are not supposed to let your body temperature get higher than a certain point, I think it's 102 degrees. Most baths work OK even with this restriction, because although keeping the temp lower than that seems kind of cool for a bath, your whole body is not submerged for a long period and the water does cool pretty fast. The problem is really much more pronounced with hot tubs, in which you are submerged all the way and the temps are always more like 104 or even 105, and people sit a long time in a hot tub. A relatively quick bath at the lowest temperature that doesn't feel uncomfortably cool is fine.
Hi, its perfectly fine to take baths. I would advise to not have the bath too hot as this irritates the baby, and you can see the baby move to the top of your belly where its cooler :)
