Being induced was a horrific experience for me. The pain was unbearable because of the pitocin. My doctor broke my water at 2 cm and I held out with the contractions for what seemed like hours. I had two doses of fentanyl, which did nothing. Got into the Jacuzzi tub for about ten minutes, and couldn't take it anymore. Got out, threw up and begged for an epidural. After receiving the epi everything after was great, until the pushing. The pushing was hard towards the end because they shut my epidural off at the beginning, So pushing as hsrd as you can for almost two hours really takes it out of you. The cord was wrapped around my son's neck, so she just yanked him out. Ended up having four stiches because of that, and needed a numbing shot because I could feel her stitching me up! Ouch.

I'm 37 weeks on Monday with my second boy, and if I learned anything from my first experience it would be that I definitely will get an epidural much sooner. No point in being in pain, I'm a strong momma and I've got nothing I need to prove to myself or anyone else. Just remember, with each push you're one push closer to holding your little one! Good Luck :)

I didn't have The epidural when I was induced and it was terrible. So this time I self induced to avoid it because it was so bad. I had an all natural birth this time and it was a breeze compared to my induction.

The contractions hurt like hell. I held out for an hour and ended up getting an epidural. Had my water broke at 7pm held out with contractions, got an epidural and passed out:P had my son at 11:35 don't work yourself up, when you're experiencing it you don't think much you just do it. You'll be great (:

Hi there.  It's probably a little different for everyone.  For me, it was a good experience.  I had an 'appointment' for my time to start induction.  I got to the hospital at 8 am.  They got me settled in a room and at around 9, they got my iv's set up and began Pitocin.  Then the doctor broke my water which did not hurt.  She ha this thing that looked like a knitting needle that she just went 'blip' and the water broke.  My contractions intensified as they do and that is when the anesthesiologist came in and gave me my epidural.  I laid in the bed laboring for a couple of hours and when the nurse checked me---  she said I was at 10 and that it was time to get 'started' pushing.  Doctor and husband and labor and delivery nurses (bless them) all helped me and I pushed and had our baby boy.  :>)

But that is just my experience.  Your induction will go fine hon.  Don't be scared!  good luck
