what is normal fetal position @ 17 weeks

my very active baby seems to be burrowing itself as far down into my abdomen as possible. I have been feeling t move since about 13 weeks and now the past week or so its favoite position is as close to my cervix as possible, with still lots of movement. also my lower abdomen will become like a hard ball for a while and then relax. is tis normal bc i never noticed it with my first child.

The hardening of your belly is a braxton hicks contraction and is perfectly normal as long as no pain and there are not more then 6-8 in an hour. Baby at 17 weeks will change positions all the time and is still small enough to roll around and move freely.

I've had exactly the same sensation. Feels like the baby is kicking or stretching directly on a nerve or something in the top left of my uterus and it gives me that sensation of tightening right under my rib. Anyway, that's what I assume cause I'm sure that at 17 weeks, the uterus and baby are way too low to be kicking as high as my ribs. It happened to me every day for almost a week and sometime it's annoying but I'm sure it's normal. I only hope baby will stop doing that soon cause as he gets stronger, it becomes to be more uncomfortable sometimes.

I'm 17 weeks.  It feels more comfortable when I lean forward or bend over.  My mom told me not to cross my legs, because of some old saying that it could possibly tangle up the umbilical cord, but I don't know if that's true.  And, i've also started feeling a tightening right under the left side of my rib and then a release, and was searching on the internet trying to figure out what it was.

hey! i am 22 weeks and i get the same thing when i have an orgasm, so i asked my doctor what it could be and she told me its the uterus tensing up in the same way it would during a braxton-hicks contraction. but my baby seems to favor going as low as possible lol...... but has anyone had pain when they sneezed? yesterday i was sitting in a cross-legged position and i sneezed and it really hurt but it didnt last long. the next sneeze i decided to bend from the waist and it didnt hurt at all. idk it freaked me out.

Both of my sons have done that, they move up eventually but this baby still seems to favor kicking around down low.

Hey! As a lot of pregnant women,I'm sure...Google is my bestfriend! lol Anyways,I was Googling 'I am 17 weeks pregnant and I get a lump in the lower part of my abdomen,is that the baby?" Well, unfortunatly,I couldn't really find what I was looking for so I tried "What should the position of the baby be at 17 weeks?"And you were the first one to pop up Virgo.Congrats!! :) I was wondering if it could be the babies head, one. And two,I get that quite a bit.(the lump in the lowest of the low part of my abdomen, right in the middle.I don't know honestly how big the babies head would be at this time but I still figured that is what it is.Also,I know it sounds kinda weird but, when I'm having an orgasm which causes a lot of tension of the abdomen, the lump comes, everytime.I was wondering if that causes the baby to move around since it's getting tight and tense down there in that area.Something else I don't quiet get is how do I not feel the baby turning into that position?Because the lump isn't there 100% of the time. So,I'm assuming that the baby isn't always in that position.Wouldn't you feel the baby turning? lol ; Sorry this is so long and probably sounds retarded. But please someone try and help. :)

Due : October 7th,2009 :)

We are all thinking that It's going to be a boy.Is that probably the condition since the baby is always being felt in the lower part of my abdomen. That means the baby is staying low which always seems to be a boy. ;)

i'm not sure that there is a "normal position" as early as 17 weeks.  usually in the late 20s, early 30s they start heading down into birthing position, head first into pelvis.  my baby spend a lot of time quite low, but she really moved around in different positions for much of my pregnancy.  she was mostly very low in my tummy or sideways.  between 32/33 weeks she assumed the "birthing position."  i think you are just fine...that baby just loves to cuddle up and use your bladder as a pillow like mine does ;-)
