TTC - trying to conceive (IE you)

An OPK is an Ovulation Predictor Kit, and is useful in telling a female when she is going to ovulate. BBT is basal body temperature and tells (with more accuracy) the likelyhood of ovulation. However nothing (even ultrasounds and such) are exact and it's very difficult to know exactly when ovulation occurs. All women have different ovulation periods, luteal phases and cycles. The average for women is a 28 day cycle with ovulation on cycle day (CD) 14 and a 14 day Luteal Phase. However many women fall outside this, and a lot don't consider that these guidelines fall to PERFECT menstrating women and a lot of inaccuracy is out there. Most will say you ovulate 2 weeks or so after you have your cycle and this in incorrect. You 'usually' ovulate 10-14 days BEFORE your next cycle, as it's ovulation which causes you to bleed. If you're not ovulating, you generally have no cycle (though it's possible to not ovulate and still bleed but that's an entirely different thing) as there's no need to. For example, I have a 29-30 day cycle and typically ovulate on CD 16. So if someone told me I ovulated on CD 14 and I only had sex on CD 8, 9 and 11 I have the potential to never fall pregnant. Online calenders and predictors can help, but can also easily be wrong and skewed. There's just too many factors that can cause it to be off. Stress, diet, weight, medical history, family history, medication, exercise, age can ALL affect your cycle and ovulation.

If you're having a true menstural cycle last for an hour, you would have an extremely thin uterine lining, far too thin to ever support a growing child. An average cycle can last anywhere from 2-7 days, average being around 4-5 days. Who is it telling you what they are? Are they a general doctor, OB, foot doctor?

An hour bleed isn't a period... And whoever told you it was really needs to go back to medical school. There are dozens of reasons you might have vaginal bleeding, and it doesn't exactly mean your body is getting on track - rough sex, lack of lubrication, injury (cuts, etc) cysts, ovulation, STD/I, etc etc

After the depo shot it can take several months to 1-2 years for your body to regulate. There are also some women who, after being on it for extended times, can't fall pregnant again. Prenatals don't help, they only provide you with what you need when you do fall pregnant. They gave them to you because you're TTC and all women who are TTC should be taking them. Do you use OPK's at all, BBT, anything? Or just guess and hope it happens.

I only had the depo shot for one round and it took me and my hubby  a year and a half to get pregnant ( I am now 39 weeks 6 days ) it actually took a year and a half for me to resume ovulating , I was having a period but not ovulating so I would recommend testing every day for a month to see if you are even ovulating and like the previous poster said you don't always ovulate 14 days after your period I I ovulated 8 days after my period.
I wish you luck :)

And just because they say you're ovulating on day 14 or whatever, that's not always true either. I got pregnant the week after my 4 day period, so day 5-9. You can learn to take your basil body temp in the morning and that could help you too. Good luck!

First, it can take 6-9 months to get pregnant after birth control, especially depo, it takes longer to leave your system. It can take a normal healthy couple up to 1 year to get pregnant. Prenatals will not help you get pregnant, they are just assuring your body has the proper nutrients for a baby. You need to have a regular period, every month on time, to maximize your chance of getting pregnant, having irregular period, or absent period can mean you're not ovulating. A one day bleed may not have been a period, it may just be breakthrough bleeding. You should have sex every other day throughout cycle days 10-22 to really maximize your chance of getting pregnant, it's all about timing, and it has to be perfect, so relax, it will happen!
