my milk can in on day 4 after my baby was born
thanks ladies this has really put my mind at rest. x
Right now it is a runny transparent liquid. Dont worry about it but also dont force it out. After birth your body begins producing a hormone, prolactin i think but dont quote me. This hormone starts the actual milk production. As for the person who said theirs never came with the first two, i have a friend who had her doc give her meds to increase production. Also, your body will automatically take care of the supply and demand side of things when it comes to production. If you wanna help it out try pumping as soon as the baby os finished eating.
Your body keeps making colostrum until you start breastfeeding and your milk will come in. Colostrum is what your newborn will need until your milk comes in. Don't freak out if it doesn't come in right away.
I hope we do...but I dont have much hope for myself, this is my third and I tried with both my kids but left them starving, I never leaked after I stopped trying or had any pain from filling up which apparently I should have had. My mum never managed either so its maybe a wee genetic quirk we share.
Your milk won't really come in until after you give birth. You may leak but trust me...you will produce milk once baby comes. Your body continually "tops up" while breastfeeding! Even when your boobs shrink down you're still able to feed that baby! No worries!
In the other hand.... I'm freakinh out!!!! I woke up midnight to go pee and baammm.. my shirt is wet! I thought it was my hair because I fell asleep with mt hair wet, but no. I squeezed my nipple (tmi) and there it was... Colostrum(?sp) I'm 27w2d and only want to bf, no formula. I'm afraid I won't have enough Colostrum and milk by the time my baby arrives :(
I'm kinda happy at the same time knowing there's something there at least!
aww thanks ladies i really hope im one of the mums that does get milk this is my first and i want to do everything as it should be all natural want to be the best i can be. sorenr- i hope we get our milk x
Right now what your making is colostrum...your actual milk won't start producing until after baby is born..don't worry hun..you don't want your milk yet!! Baby needs that colostrum first..=)
I never had any, was hoping it would be different this time as I have actually got a bit bigger but so far no leaking for me. I'm just a week ahead of you. Losing hope for the breastfeeding but will try again anyway.
