when is swelling severe

I have had some slight swelling so far throughout pregnancy. Such as not being able to wear my rings, etc. And I can tell when my feet are swollen, but they usually don't get this big. I am currently 27 weeks and 4 days pg. I work at a desk all day long, but I keep a big box under my desk so I can elevate my feet at all times. I don't usually cross my feet and don't think I have today. A few moments ago, I made the trip to the lil ladies room and my feet were really hurting in my shoes, so when I slipped my shoes back off, I took a look at my feet and I could swear my ankles are as big around as the thickest part of my calf if not bigger. This is alot more than normal. Right now I have my feet up on my desk but they don't seem to be coming down any. Are there any other symptoms that accompany severe swelling that I need to be aware of or that should prompt me to call the doc. Here is a short list of issues I have been having:
Abdominal cramping kind of like menstrual period cramping
I have placenta previa at this time, my next OB appt is Monday to see if it has moved
Some headaches, dizziness, etc.
Fatigue
craving Ice (OB checked my iron it is borderline low so that may be why this odd craving)

Should I just shrug this off and bring it up on Monday or do you think this warrants a call to the OB.

BP is good and there is no protein in my urine, just retaining alot of water. Doc said to increase my water intake, but I already drink 3 liters a day. Anymore and I will be floating away on a river of water. Doc has bumped me up to coming in every two weeks to keep an eye on me though.

Haven't had my blood pressure checked since my last OB visit. But I do have an at home blood pressure cuff so, I'll definitely check when I get home. OB nurse said since I am coming in on Monday to make sure I am drinking lots of water, not eating any excess salt, and that I take it easy and lay on my left side this weekend. But once I check my blood pressure if it is high to come in to hospital immediately.

I agree w. Ashie.. That was the first thing I thought of w/ all that swelling. Preeclampsia is very serious.. Let us know what your Dr. says when they call you back. Have you had your blood pressure checked lately? Maybe stop by the pharmacy on the way home and test your BP?

I would call your doctor and let them know about the size right now!  I could mean you have preeclampsia, here are the signs of it

What are the symptoms of preeclampsia?
Mild preeclampsia: high blood pressure, water retention, and protein in the urine.

Severe preeclampsia: headaches, blurred vision, inability to tolerate bright light, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, urinating small amounts, pain in the upper right abdomen, shortness of breath, and tendency to bruise easily. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience blurred vision, severe headaches, abdominal pain, and/or urinating very infrequently .

The swelling could be water retention, and the why I think you should call your doctor.  I would be safe and call rather then wait till Monday.  Just to make sure nothing bad is happening!!

Oh, yeah, and at times I can hear the blood pumping through my ears. I don't know how to describe it other than that. I've put in a call to the nurse, but it may be a few before they call back.

I'm 14 weeks an 6 days an I have been swelling since 7 weeks.  Its only in my left leg an it dose not hurt.  I was worried about it when it started so I went to the ER an the ran every kind of test.  They told me that some woman just swell.  An that everything was fine.  I would call my OB if I was you.  That way they can run the test then you will know everything is ok.  God Bless, Anita
