which bottles did you use?

Hi ladies,

so i am more than half way through my first pregnancy and i am sturggle with which bottle to try when the baby is born.  I put my registry together and wanted to know what the best brand bottle is.  I put playtex airevents on there but i can always take them off and add another if there is one bottle brand that really stands out and works great.

any advice would be gerat.

thanks,
leighanne

with the playtex drop ins i found that once the baby is done eating that you can undothe nipple and take of the top and the air goes back into it..therefore letting me know how much my daughter has drank..i never had a prob with them before..but hey thats just my opinion!! use whatever you feel is best and what you are comfortable with!!

I used Avent with my son and only had leaking occassionally although he wasn't on a bottle until about six months. Then with the whole BPA thing coming out I have tossed them and did some price comparison and went with the playtex drop in system. As someone posted before they have always been BPA free and since I was really only needed to replace the five I had for my son it didn't seem like a huge waste to toss them. PLus with the twins I plan to breastfeed for at least the first six weeks even though everyone I meet says there is no way I can do it so anyways i have bottles on hand just in case and then if I am successful they will probably be switched to bottles at some point when they are older.

with my son i used the vent aire ones and loved them bc when they fell upside down nothing ever leaked out of the nipples. but with my daughter i have tried every single bottle in the world and the onlyyyy bottles that work for her are the first years sootie ones. i think maybe they are good for her bc they are the same nipple as her binky. they only problem i have with the first years ones are they are so fat around that the babies little hands have a hard time holding it. she has mastered it now but it was hard. it was cute though watching her little hands try soooo hard to hold onto this bottle 30 times bigger than her haha. but i did also like the avent ones... they leaked and dr browns leaked like crazyyyy for me.... i would say try the first years ones if your using that soothie pacifier... every baby is different though.. my 2 kids were soooo different with what they liked.... my son would not take a binky.. my dd loves hers.. i bet its gona be an obstacle to get her to let it go but i'll just take it haha.

athank you ladies for all your suggestions.  keep them coming.

just FYI, i do not like the drop ins.  you can not tell how much the baby has drank because once you squeeze the air out of the drop in, you no longer have an accurate amount of ounces.  and i just can not see myself using the dorp ins.  unless i am completely convinced, which i am not quite yet, i might have to try the avent ones.

Yes, Avemnt can be used with breast milk. I never had any gas problems when my daughter used them.  If the nipple is properly in, they wont leak.  I personally haven't used the drop ins, so I dont have any opinios in favor/ against them..
Good luck!

I went back and read others... 3 of the sets I watched started with Avent and I HATE HATE them!  They leak quite a bit, I think they are horrible for helping gas and only new ones are BPA free, the Playtex drop ins are BPA free and always have been.  I would HIGHLY suggest against Avent!

I am a nanny and have watched 3 different sets of twins and I've used Ventairs and they stink, they leak like crazy and if you are breastfeeding they are hard to transition too.  I have reccomended that my parents get Playtex Drop ins... they are also a lot less hassle.  You only have to clean the nipples because the bag just comes out and if you pump you can store them in curtain bags and drop it in the bottle and you are set!  They reduce gas and colic!  They are great!

Avent! They are awesome. My only qualm with them is that if the nipple isn't in correctly you'll spill milk EVERYWHERE when you turn the bottle over. But you get used to it and will know it's not on correctly right away after a few times. I could also switch between breast and bottle without a hitch!

I've also tried VentAire but because we don't have a dishwasher, I had to wash them all by hand. Those bottles have a million different parts you have to piece together and keep track of.

I use the Avent BPA free bottles as well and LOVE them. Because they are little the same shape as a nipple its easy to switch between breastfeeding and formula feeding. Aspen never had a problem with gas and they were super easy for her to grasp onto even when she was really little.

when I stopped breasfeeding | used Avent, they are the best.  I just bought the BPA Free for my second baby, but i will use them as I did with my first, after I stop breastfeding

Hi,  I use the avent bottles.  and i absolutly love them. they help reduce gas and they dont have "extra parts" like the doc brown bottles.
My sister uses them too and has with her last 2 children and she swears by them!  and she is working on her 5th now!!
