why wont my body go into labor?

I am actually due today and have been having possible pre labor for about a week now.  My contractions are on and off all day and get pretty regular at night but stop once i go to bed.  I have tried to keep going at night so they wont stop - walking, bouncing on fit ball, stair climbing and they do get a bit intense but then i just get to tired and have to go to bed at about 11 and they tend to stop.  Not sure why my body wont kick over to the real deal but it is very frustrating as doc is giving me until the 8/8 then will naturally induce by breaking my waters (can't have anymore as this is a vbac).  I really want to go on my own as the longer bubs is overdue the more chance of the waters having meconian (spelling) in them and then he wont give me the 24hours after breaking my waters to see if i will go into labor and they will have to intervene which means a c-section.  Hope things happen soon - any advice?

There is an end to it! My son was 12 days late and I was in prelabour for a few days before and it always set in at night for some reason! It really kicked me in the butt come time for actual labour, I was soooo tired!!
The sweep might do you some good. Doesn't work for everyone though. I have 5+ but since you've been in prelabour it might actually do something.
I wouldn't recommend castor oil, you don't want to go that far!

ya I was told by my md to use castor oil and I did made me horriblely sick but it worked but I also spent the whole day on Monday walking around and running errands.  my obgyn laughed when he said it but he said it worked for hus wife. I took one sip of the horrible crap and got sick all afternoon but few hrs later I woke up to use the bathroom and had def bloody show and started with contractions then 40 mins later she was born I will post the whole story when o get home.  idk know if its was yime or oil but it worked for me. good luck

i was the exact same though i had false labour for a few weeks, had my membranes swept and my son was born 46 hours later. maybe ask about that being done, nothing worked for me in ur position and he was my second, my firast was 3 days early. having the sweep made more of a difference than sex or curries or walking, instantly i felt the difference! :)

Are you dilated at all? Will your doctor sweep your membranes?  There is always the scary castor oil that seemed to work for the other girl in the August forum. I know this part of the pregnancy you become so impatient but try to remember more times then not, women go past their due dates. Before you know it you are going to be holding your new little bundle of joy and you will barely remember this part.  Hold out just a little longer and good luck when the time comes I wish you the very best!
