one of my friends told me that because i have a 34 day cycle thing, meaning my cycle is 34 days apart and its 8 days long means that i have ovulating problems, and now that is making me worried that i am going to have more problems TTC, is this true??? i dont want to tell her not to tell me certain things or suggest things, because she is helpful alot, but is this true with what she is saying?? another thing i want to know is where the heck is this PRESEED thing that i keep hearing about sold?? lol, my hubby and i have been looking for this stuff at all of the CVS stores and things of that nature, but cannot find it. i went onto babymed.com and found out when im fertile and when ill be ovulating, am taking the pre-natal vit.'s OTC, and i just want to find this pre-seed stuff some where to try and help me that little tiny bit more, haha, so if anyone can help with anything ive written, i'd love it so very much and thkx for reading my question, love Nicole

First of all, your friend doesn't know what she is talking about. Just because you have a long cycle does not mean you have any issues with ovulation. I myself had a 42 day cycle and I am now 14 weeks 3 days pregnant. You could have a normal 28 day cycle and not ovulate or you could have a long cycle and ovuate normally. Generally speaking your cycle length does not mean you will not ovulate or you are abnormal. I'm not saying that you are for sure ovulating because only charting temps and OPKs and checking for cervical mucus can tell you for sure. Unless you go to your doctor for testing. Anyway, my point is, don't let your friend make you nervous. You probably just have a longer cycle than most people. In fact, a 34 day cycle isn't even considered abnormal. About the Pre Seed; you need to order it online. Here is a link, I bought mine at the same website. Hope this helps:

Ovulation Predictor Kit......I found them very useful...esp. if you're not sure when you ovulate........(I think we might have had this discussion in an email but am not sure???)......After using them for a month when BabyMed tells you to start using them, you'll have a better idea each month as to when you ovulate.......  :o)

OPK is an ovulation predictor kit. It's basically like taking a pregnancy test only you take it when you think you may be ovulating. If you get two dark intense lines than you are ovulating within the next 24-48 hours. The thing about OPKs though is that when I used them I would get faint lines everyday I tested because the hormone it is testing for is always present in our bodies; the reason it gets darker at ovulating is because the hormone is more prevalent at that time. I recommend using and OPK while also basal body charting and using pre-seed. The first month I did all three together, I ended up pregnant. I had been trying to conceive for 8 months up to that point. I know how stressful it is, trust me. I actually thought I couldn't get pregnant because I had been trying so long, my cycles were so long, and I had a huge cyst removed from my left ovary last June. Low and behold I got pregnant after some diligence and extensive research. I will keep you in my prayers and wish you the best of luck. If you ever have any other questions, please don't hesitate to message me. I know exactly what you are going through.

Long cycles is fine 42 is usually the cut of they do say some women with long cycles may have pcos which is one cause of long periods, but in very few cases, and even so its still possible to concieve,so your friend is wrong.i also chart, and use fertility monitors, and clearblue ovulations sticks.oh and ovulex,so you could say my bathroom is like a chemist.as the previous poster said about some ovk they a pain to read the lines so i go for the smiley face ones cant go wrong, with these and charting,im sure you will get your BFP..on a 34 day cycle i would start testing from cycle day 20...good luck girl..

A long cycle just means you ovulate later. It doesn't mean you don't ovulate at all! Just find out when you ovulate (typically 12-16 days before your period).
