5.5weeks, sac & yolk, no fetus? early?

My lmp was Jan. 25, 07...so I should be about 7 weeks pregnant by now....but based on the fact that I was breastfeeding my 8 1/2 month old...we don't know exactly when I got pregnant...dr thinks I'm only 5weeks 4days, as of yesterday's appointment.  the ultrasound showed a gestational sac & yolk sac...but no baby...dr. wanted me to go have bloodwork drawn yesterday so I did...when I called for the results they said that my hcg level was 20,000...dr said it's in the "grey" area and that I should go back and get more blood drawn tomorrow(2days later) to see what the numbers are doing...she said that she wasn't sure what was going on...I've had no symptoms or signs of miscarriage...I just really wish I knew what was going on right now!  is anyone else having issues like this??? my nerves are pretty shot by now...I've been playing this up and down rollercoaster emotions for almost a month...numbers are good...doubling almost tripling and now we don't know what's up...ahhhh!

If you are 5w4d it sounds like everything is going ok.  My sis was 5 weeks and her u/s just showed a gest sac and yolk sac.  Give it a few weeks and if everything is ok you should see a baby with a heart beat.  Good luck!!

If you are really only 5 weeks then its probably to early to see anything but that.  I know it was for me when i had my first ultrasound.  Good Luck

Hello,  I had the exact same thing happen.  I went to the ER at 5w6d because I had previous m/c and ectopic so I wanted to make sure that I everything was ok.  My HCG was at 9,000.  They could only see a Ges sac and Yolk sac..No baby & no heartbeat.  I so so upset but my doc told me that I was exactly where I should be.  They told me to go back in a week and a half  to see if they could see baby.  Went back at 7w3d and there was my lil one and her heartbeat.  I was so happy.  So, 5w5d is too early to see baby and don't worry...everything will be fine. I am now 29w4d.  Good luck!!!

If your numbers continue to double then thats a good sign that maybe it's just to early.  I had and ultrasound at 5w1d and all I saw was the gestational sac, no yolk sac. It does seem like your HCG is high.  Good luck.  Keep us posted.

It's normal not to get a fetal pole or much of anything for that matter at just 5 1/2 weeks. Give it a couple weeks and you'll see. You'll get a heartbeat and everything.
