Again?!

by Trying2Conceive89, Jun 01, 2009 02:03PM
I don't understand! I took a ovulation test Saturday (I was ovulating), then I took one later the night...not ovulating. Now today, took one and the testing line is way darker than the referance line. So, does this make sense?! I don't understand?!

Ovulation tests are not as reliable as charting, your body maybe trying to ovulate but for whatever reason didnt release the egg, hence why you will get a positive again.its very common.it maybe today is your ov day..

wow wow wow what OPK did u get? cos trust me u shouldnt have ur eggs coming back and forth ur uterus it only comes down once in a month and last from about 12-36 hours depends on the womans body. first of all i suggest you stick to one OPK(am sorry if i think u are using several) i will suggest clear blue digital ovulation test kit . some other reason might be your ovulation lasts for less hours. just get the digital one and take all the guessing out that way it tells your best two days to conceive.

i hope this helps .

babydust to you.....

Can I get a positive OPK and then not ovulate? Yup! It is possible for your body to "gear up" to ovulate, leading to an LH surge-- and then, for some reason (such as stress, illness, travel, or random fluke), your body fails to release an egg. When this happens, your LH surge will dissipate and your cevical mucus (a signal of fertility) will dry up. Once the stress is resolved, your body will try again. This can happen more than once per cycle. Therefore, there is no way to be sure you ovulated, even if you had a positive OPK. OPK's are most accurate when used in conjunction with fertility charting (NFP or FAM.) That way, a positive OPK can be cross-checked with an increase in basal body temperature and/or cervical mucus dry-up.

Thanks, I've only used one brand, but 3 total out of the box. I actually called the hotline and the lady got an attitude with me because she said I didn't follow the calendar provided in the box. Which the calendar just gives you an idea when you should test based off of your cycle length, but...mine is never the same so I have no clue. This is the second type of test I have taken, I bought the strips awhile back and had the same problem. They we're both the same brand, just one were the sticks and the other were strips. I should probably go with a digital test or get a basal thermometer, which both seem to be a better investment. Thank you both very much!
