All messed up

by candy82, Jan 12, 2009 12:14AM
My husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for over a year. I am a 26 year old female in general good health. I don't smoke, i drink only sociably and i exercise regularly. However when i first stopped taking birth control i had extremely painful periods, my periods were never cake walks but they were so severe that 800 mg ibuprofen didn't help and i could feel the pain in my feet and hands, i actually shook and had diarhea (diarrhea) and nausea. After a few months they became more manageable so i chalked it up to hormone changes from stopping contraception. After almost a year we still weren't pregnant so the dr ordered a bunch of blood work which all came back normal and check for blockage within my fallopian tubes, everthing looked fine. Well within the past few months other problems have arisen, my hair on my temples is thinning, and the dr stated my thyroid seemed enlarged but when tested was within normal range. Also my extremely painful periods have returned. The dr sent me in for an ultrasound where the tech stated it appeared that i had an extremely thick lining for this stage in my cycle. I'm trying to find out what all of these symptoms means together. Unfortunately my husband is military and i am having a hard time getting them to call me back and be consistent, i've seen 6 different dr's in the past year and none of them seems overly concerned. However i am literally in fear of having my next period due to the extreme pain. Please give me some suggestions as to what may be going on and what i can do to get some help?

Have they mentioned anything about endometriosis or fibroids?  Those can cause very painful periods.  Sorry, I don't have much experience with this, but hope you get some answers soon.

The dr FINALLY called my back today and they are scheduling me for a follow up appointment, he mentioned fibroids as a possibility. I am praying that they are able to help me... Thank you for your comment.
