Another Q - mucus plug

Another Q - mucus plug

Hello ladies, sorry I am full of questions at he moment as my time is coming near - if you are having a c-section and you haven't lost your mucus plug before hand does it come away sometime later after you have had the baby or does it just disappear / dry up, be taken away at the c-section?  This is my second pregnancy but with my first i lost my plug a week before delivery so even though I had a c-section, i had already lost the plug.

Thanks

thats a question for your dr. I have never had a c-section so I always lost my mucus plug. I would think you should lose it before the c-section though... Ask your dr at your next appt...

When you have a c-section you will bleed as though you gave birth vaginally as well, and still have to wear pads. The mucous plug will come out!

LACh~ here's a bunch of TMI:::: My plug came out about 4 weeks post op I believe. it was DISCUSTING. and no one told me to expect it. It was like a  huge gob of snot/jello/ewwwww that I literally had to pull out because everytime i'd wipe it would just stick there.... and it felt so strange too. I had  a few weeks of bleeding before it ever came out. believe me, you'll know what it is.

thanks - I have seen what the plug is like before as I lost it with my first baby, and i know you still bleed afterwards with a c-section (although not as bad as they do clean you out a fair bit before sewing you back up), but yuck how gross to have it come out later when you are starting to feel normal again - I wonder if it comes away when you would have given birth naturally (anyway just a thought) thanks ladies for the comments and advice, it is always appreciated.
