Anyone else look/measure small and have a healthy/full size baby?

by sweetangel7, Jan 26, 2009 04:37PM
I was just at my glucose test and I had TWO people comment on how small I was for my due date.  I've had a lot of people at work make comments too...they are usually said in a way that is supposed to be flattering I think...they are all very nice people.  Anyways, now I am nervous...at my 24w appointment I was measuring 23w and the doctor said that was normal and nothing to worry about...I have an appointment tomorrow and I am scared I'll measure small again!  At my 18w ultrasound, baby was measuring right on but a few days less but the ultrasound tech said that was very normal and nothing to worry about as well.

Soooooo I am looking for anyone else who measured smaller or people who told them they were looking small but all was okay!

By the way, I am a smaller person...barely 5'1 and 1/2....

Thanks!

I was measuring small until about 34 weeks. I am very petite, 5'0" barely! Whenever I went anywhere no one ever knew I was Pregnant! I was 6 months along and went to my husbands cousins Wedding and every single person offered to get me a drink and I was like "umm I'm 6 months pregnant". If you look at my pictures I looked really small until I was about 31 weeks. You'll see, you will start packing on the pounds then and you wont believe how small you stayed and than all of a sudden you find your belly growing every single second!
My baby always measured perfect and as of my last U/S they said he is the perfect size, average for a baby boy at this stage. So you are fine! Lots of women measure small up until their last month or so. It really just depends on their body structure. Good Luck, I can't believe how fast your pregnancy is going by! :)

I am petite as well. One week I would measure right on and then the next I would measure small. I didn't evens start showing until the mid 20 weeks and was constantly having people tell me that I was way too tiny and that I needed to put on weight or eat more blah blah blah. Aspen was a healthy 6 lbs 8 ozs! I really wouldn't worry too much about it. Its all about how you show and EVERYONE has their own opinion on how you are doing and the best thing to do is ignore it. Measuring 1 week small bad at all.

i did not show up until i am at least 7 months(30 weeks).. when i was 5 months, people cant telli ampregnant. when i am few days away from my due date, peoplethat rarely see me just start noticing iampregnant and ask me when is my due date and they are shocked when i told them my due date was at the end of the week. i gave birth to ahealthy 6lbs 11oz baby boy. not toobig not too small i guess.. :)

You have mentioned how hard you've worked for your strong ab muscles??  I'm guessing that that extra strength in your muscles is helping to "contain" your belly.  Not that there is anything wrong with the baby...you're just in great shape!  :)

I always look tiny.  If you have strong stomach muscles you will look smaller, and some people just carry smaller than others.  And your baby can measure up to a week smaller, and it's fine.  Babies grow at different rate in the utero!  Right now, I don't look 34 weeks prego, if I can find a small camera I will post a picture tomorrow!  I look maybe 24 weeks ish, lol but my uterus is measuring extremely big for where I am at!

my sister in law was told by the doctors she was small, they induced her for fear that the placenta was not working properly. She was told her baby would be 5 pounds. Annabelle was born a healthy 7 pounds. I wouldnt worry all pregnancys are different. some moms are smaller or larger than others more often than not it doesnt mean anything. If you dr isnt worried dont worry yourself!

Well, I go today, I haven't seen my doctor in 4w...I am hoping that I'll measure fine...I actually had a nightmare that I still measured 23w (same measurement from 4 weeeks ago when I went!)  I'll update later!

Aw don't worry, your doctor and nurses have said that there's nothing to worry about, believe them.
If there was something to worry about they would be telling you to do a million things because they don't want to get sued.  So, relax, you are probably one of those lucky ones.  You don't want to have an enourmous belly that you can't work out much when you give birth.
