I know I haven't been on much, but I need some opinions...I called the RE's office this morning to see if he will go ahead and prescribe me ZofranZofran Zofran odt for the nausea...I don't remember throwing up this much with Travis and at least with him, I could eat meat - This one - Nadda. I don't think I'm getting enough protein from fruit and peanut butter toast alone - and last night everything I had managed to keep down throughout the day - came up at about 9:00 last night :-( I have to wait a few hours for him to give a call back when his patient load lightens up....I don't like the fact of taking a med during pregnancy but what else is there to do?? The bottom sides of my ribsRib cage pain hurt from dry heaving all the time/getting sick...Don't get me wrong I'm glad that these symptoms are great and all, but I need some relief lol!!!
What do you all think? Do you have any other remedies?
All the old tricks never worked for me, luckily ZofranZofran Zofran odt works perfectly! By the way it is perfectly safe, I go to High Risk Doctor and I know he would not give me anything that would harm me or my baby, so do not let people make you feel guilty for taking it.
Please dont take my post as trying to make you feel guilty either. I was just letting you know my opinion and that I decided not to take it, because I could deal with the vomiting by eating frequent small meals.
Thanks :-) I don't want to take unless I have to - usually in the late afternoon/evening is when it's the worst. Nothing sounds good or tastes good let alone smells good. I think not taking it and not being able to eat especially protein would do more harm than good...
I actually am taking it and it works wonderfully. I was recently prescriped this before going on vacation to ease the nausea while on the trip. It works great. I have the dissolvable zofran which you put on your tongue. It definitely works and has helped me tremendously.
I just was at the Docs. yesterday and he told me until the sickness ends to stop taking me prenatal vitamins since that can definitely cause more nausea and vomiting. He said that after the first trimester then I will go back on them since it really does not do much for the baby right now but in the second trimester then i will need to start them again. He also told me that you can get the calcium, potassium and iron from foods so at this time I stopped taking the vitamins. It has helped but the zofran works to ease the nausea big time.
I totally understand why you would be weary of taking a prescription but they would not prescribe it to you if they thought that it would harm you or the baby. Just my opinion.
I have taken it and sadly, it doesn't help me much. It does keep me from throwing up quite so much. I didn't even notice until one day I stopped taking it thinking it wasn't helping at all and I felt even worse after I stopped taking it. So, I took it until I didn't need it anymore. My only problem w/ it was it caused me to be super constipated (TMI). But I know it is perfectly safe. My baby is super healthy and I have taken anti-nausea medications w/ several of my pregnancies and all of my kids have been born perfect and healthy.
