At 4 weeks should i be able to see my baby on ultrasound?

Hi, I had an ultrasound scan yesterday and was told i am 4 weeks 2 days but i could only see the sac? the hospital have told me to go back in another week for another scan and in the meantime to have bloods taken. Has this happened to anyone on here before? i dont know if i should be worried becuse they have not told me much and i am scared to get exited about the pregnancy incase everything dosent go right.

no. first time you should see anything in the sac is between 6 and 7 weeks when it should pick up the heartbeat.

Nothing to worry about - they saw my baby (which was just a line then) at 6 weeks 3 days, and prior to 6 weeks, there isn't much of anything, you're lucky to have seen the sac around 4 weeks 2 days! But when you go back, (assuming 5 weeks, 2 days) you might not see much then either - don't worry about it until you're past 6-7 weeks and they can't see anything

Nothing to worry about...I posted my pictures from my ultrasound.  The 3-d part calculated I was 4 weeks and 3 days which my doc didn't agree with for some reason.  We saw the gestational sac and the yoke sac.  They are doing another scan on the 9 of february.  He said by them we can get a heartbeat and see a fetal pole.  More than likly your baby is just a tiny dot on the ultrasound.  Good luck...let me know how it goes.  Don't worry about it too much....you will see something when you go back!

not at 4 weeks, you should only see a sac and seeing a sac is a great thing.  anywhere between the end of the 5th week and any time during the 6th week the little fetal pole should develop.

thankyou to everyone who has replied i feel alot better now. I got a call from the doctor today with my blood results, the progesterone is 60 which they said is fine but my hcg is 194 she said this is lower than it should be so have to have more bloods taken tomorrow and get results friday and hopefully they will have doubled. thanks again for the replies
