BFP but doctors say BFN

for the past 3days i have taken 5 home pregnancy tests and all came back positive my AF is due 2day took test 2day and it came back positive but when i phoned my doctor to confirm my result i was told it was negative could i be pregnant or not im not sure anymore my sister is still trying for a baby and we done a test 2gether hers came bak negative and mine came bak positive if anyone can help please leave a message thanks

Very strange how your tests were positive but the doctors werent,i would have to say negative,maybe a bad batch of tests i dont know.doctors tests are generally the same at detecting hcg as the shop ones,maybe you should take another test in the morning and take it to your doctor,,,best of luck..

this happened to me back in april.  i had used first response and had positive after positive. my doctor said that it was negative. sure enough i went back 48 hours later and it was positive at the doctors office. Good luck!

Did you go to the doctors and have them test you wrote that you phoned in. I would say if you are getting 5 positives then you are, maybe go to a different doctor for a second opinion. Good luck.

tara janes i took different tests i took 2 tests of the same kind and both came back positive i then went and got 2 predictor tests and they came back postive and then i took another 1 2day and came back positive so am sure

laura1985 can i ask did you have blood or urine test took and how long had you missed your AF before you found out you were pregnant.

hi i handed in a urine sample to be tested and i had to phone the doctors the day after i handed it in for my results and thats how i found out it was negative

i haven't given blood they said they cant do pregnancy tests with blood but my sister had it but they wont let me they said a urine sample is just as good as blood am not sure what to do

Tracey they can do a blood test with blood its called a beta test,mine was done day before my period,i live in the uk also,so i know how much a pain the docs are here.insist on a blood test...

Tracey take yourself up to a+e play on really bad tummy,they will perform there own tests on you...they will ask if you are pregnant you can say  yes you done your own tests they will take blood for you.keep us posted..

Some doctors wont order a blood test because many times they find them "unnecessary" and they are more expensive.  I think that you should take a HPT again and take it into your doctors office.. Maybe when they tested your urine it was too early?? did you have your urine test at your doctors office before testing at home?

i went to the doctors office in the morning with a urine sample i was told to do it in the morning which i did i was then told phone the next day they should have my results. i then came home and did a test again just to make sure that it was still positive and it was. when i got up 2day i done another test and still positive until i phoned my doctors at 2 pm 2day and they said it was negative so im not to sure what to do now i still haven't had period and had no signs of it so im getting fed up now

Can't you just tell your Dr. your want blood drawn to have beta testing performed? If not, I would go to a different Doctor's office.. That's insane! Good luck~

Maybe they mislabeled your urine with someone elses...I worked in a Dr.s office as I am a MA.  Mistakes happen, they could of just messed up.  It is unlikely to have a good amount of posititve tests and the drs be neg.  Good Luck!

the last time i asked when i thought in was pregnant the women over the phone basically laughed at me over the phone when i asked she said they can't do blood test to find out im pregnant at the time i didn't know you could get blood took to find out . i was going to ask today because my sister had a blood test done to find out if she was pregnant  but i thought they would refuse me again

Its different over here in the uk,we have the nhs (national health service) where we are entilitled to free blood tests etc,
thats why i feel sorry for other countrys when costs them a fortune,to have routine tests done..

Did you go to your ob or primary care physcian.  When i had my m/c my ob didnt offer to take my beta test to monitor my levels, she just said call her if i dont get AF in 6 weeks. After 4 weeks i went to my primary care physcian to have my beta drawn and she did it with no problem.  Because they are giving you a hard time, me personally i would not use that dr if you are preggo.  Regardless how expensive those test are, the dr s are not paying for it.  Also, if you do a urine test, you should take it at the office and wait for the results, im not sure why they made you go home and wait for results, what type of urine test was that, that it took a day to get you results.  I hope everything goes ok, keep us informed.

i cant go to anyone else except my doctors office if i do go to anyone else they send me to my doctor to get tests done. the urine sample i gave in usually is meant to take 2 or 3 days to get results but i got them within a day i am going to get blood took if they don't allow me to get blood took i don't know what else to do

The last time I was pregnant, my HPT at home was as BOLD as can be.  There was no mistaken that I was pregnant.  However, the next morning when I went to confirm at the doctor, their urine test was very faint and the nurse told me I was really early.  So, there can be a difference.  But, they should draw your blood as well as do a urine test.  I'd ask!

I would get yourself a new doctors,them telling you urine tests take normally 2-3 days for results,what a load of bull,they do it there and then.its the blood that can take a while,but even then mine were done,had results same afternoon..i think your doctor is fobbing you off.i would do as you thought,just go up a+e,im keeping my fingers crossed for you.

No one should laugh at you when you call, or make you feel bad. Definitely go to a different clinic if you can! As for the pregnancy tests---wait a couple more days and go back for another test. Most doctor office tests will detect HCG of 100 or more, whereas First Response can detect an HCG level of as little as 14.5. So if your level wasn't high enough, obviously their test would be negative.

Just go get it re-done! Sounds like you're probably pregnant. Can you post a pic of your home pregnancy tests?

tarajanes- Oh thanks! I didnt know that.  The first time I got pregnant it was because my mom wanted me to get a blood test to be POSITIVE that I was even though I had 2 positive HPTs and when I called to request the blood test the nurse said "we have to recommend a urine test instead of a blood test because blood tests are more expensive" and I said "I already took 2 urine tests and they came back positive.. My mom wants me to get a blood test" so they ordered one for me, but thanks for the info.  Didn't realize she was from the UK guess I will have to be more observant next time.

have them do a blood test because there pregnancy tests are not as sensitive as the ones we buy.  you just might not be at a high enough hcg level for theirs to read.  i would also put in a complaint about there inappropriate behavior.

Wow that's weird. I guess I would wait to go back to the doctors since your period is only due today. I think the doctors are just being lazy they should give you a blood test but I guess they are thinking it is too soon. I don't know. I had problems too when I got my BFP the doctors didn't want to see me saying it was too early. Anyway good luck to you and keep us posted.

i can but they follow same rules as the rest of them. i would be told hand urine sample into treatment room the send it to be tested and wait few days to get it then phone the doctors office and get told the results. i will ask for blood to get took but i will have to make appointment with doctor which could be a week or two i dont know but thats how they work here.

During my first prengnacy my Dr didn't even do a pregnancy test. She said that if i got a positive at home on a hpt, then i was pregnant. I had blood taken this time so they could check my levels...but they don't call with the results unless something is wrong

hi i haven't had blood test done yet but im going to i dont really know if they tell you over the phone i don't think they would but because it was a urine sample test all i had to do was phone and ask for my pregnancy test results and they tell you over the phone i really hope i am pregnant i feel all i have done is take HPT and i was all excited until i was told it was negative thats why im going to ask for blood test just want to know so i can get excited if i am and if im not just keep trying and see if i end up pregnant next time round.

Okay well im in same boat..or was...i took 6 hpt and got all BFP and then hospital did urine and got BFN...and had my ob order beta that following monday and came back BFP!!!!!!!!1

hi everyone just off the phone to doctors office i told them i told them i phoned yesterday and got told my pregnancy test result was negative but my HPT's come back positive i want blood test done. they said i have just so hand in urine sample again to be tested and also said theres is more accurate so i should'nt be pregnant i still haven't had a period.

Tracey go up to a+e. urine test isnt more accurate than blood test,go hospital tell them you have really bad tummy pains,they will scan you,you probably wont see anything,i had scan 4 weeks,they will tell you if your uterus lining is thickening,which will be good sign,they will perform blood tests.failing that phone for doctors appointment,you dont want to speak to the RECEPTIONIST, they know nothing,see a doctor give him the test you done,he will do blood test based on that.

i have take 1 of those clearblue digital test 2day just to make sure my result is still positive and it says pregnant. but the question is if it says pregnant why am i having some cramp i have had alot but just the odd time is it common i cant remember if i had it with my other 2 kids but i need to know just incase there is something wrong thanks

Cramps are very normal. I had a lot of cramps in the beginning of my pregnancy so bad that I really thought something was wrong. I had cramps everyday. Ohh and congrats to your pregnancy :)

how bad was your cramps mine only come the odd time through the day but there agony but then the go away just wondering how many days did they last

On Day 1: My cramps were light.
Day 2: Very bad cramps starting at 3pm - til I went to sleep.
Day 3: Very bad cramps starting at 1 pm very very light period like nothing.
Day 4: No period little cramps all day.
Day 5: Most of the day no cramps 10 mintues in total I had cramps.
Day 6: Sharp pain on my left side started out as medium pain then got really really bad in the afternoon. Got so bad I actually went to the hospital.
Day 7: No cramps at all.
Day 8: Light cramps all day.

Well thats about all I wrote down about my earlier cramps I keep a pregnancy diary on how I feel. But I also felt cramps around my 20th week too.

Well now you done the digital you know for sure,now you just need to make a appointment with the doctor,have you done this yet.you dont need to tell the receptionist you think you are pregnant,you know you are..you need to book in with a midwife now...you dont have to wait.things are done different in this country tracy you dont have to explain yourself to the receptionist,as thats all she is a receptionist not a doctor....

sorry it took me so long to get back with you. yesterday was a bad day.

i dont think i was actually late at the time i took the tests. i remember that they did a urine test on me which was negative. they then drew blood and my hcg was only 6. i ended up losing the baby a week later because they did not know i had problems with my progesterone.

perhaps you ladies can help me out.......  I had cramps really bad the week before AF was due (and I never get them)... Then AF showed up and it was mostly brown blood - it was very light and lasted a total of about 3 days.... There was some red blood - but a very small amount.  Something in me is telling me I am pregnant, however I took 2 HPT's and both were negative.  I have been having sensitive boobs, a bit of nausea, headaches and dizziness.... We are leaving for the weekend and I don't know if I should go to the doctor or not....

tarajanes hi againn i have made an appointment with doctor for tuesday butb they still want urine test done to verify my positive result im really glad i took the digital test because i thought maybe the lines on my other test were not positive but negative but when i took the digital it came up pregnant within a minute so i hope it come back positive with the doctors

I would bring all the hpt's with you just to prove your point to the doctor. I don't know how they do things in the UK, but in the US, you just call and make an appointment and tell them you ARE pregnant, you don't have to "prove" it with a urine sample (that seems soo weird to me!). They then draw blood (and do a urine test) to be sure. I think if you have taken 6+ hpt's and all came back positive, you are definitely pregnant! Please update Tuesday and let us know what happens at the Dr.'s! Good luck and I hope they are MUCH more cooperative this time!

you are pregnant and the doctors test will come up positive when you go.  there tests are not as sensitive as the HPT's like the nurse tried to tell you.  congrats.
