I've used a couple a hospital grade one and the medela pump in style. I would of loved to use the hosptal one but they were way to expensive to buy or even rent one so I used the pump in style, so I really don't have anything to compare it to but I absolutley loved it. It has various speeds and I found it comfortable to use. by that I mean it didn't hurt my boobs while using it. It was kinda a pain in the butt to wash but i'm sure with every pump you gotta wash it so thats not to bad sorry I couldn't be of much help if any =)
i also would've loved to have one of the hospital grade madela pumps... they are more comfortable and easy to use. i don't remember the exact price to rent one, but you can even rent them from some pharmacies.
w/ my oldest i first tried an avent manual pump and couldn't express any milk
. (don't know if they've changed since then, but based on that i wouldn't recomend it).
then i tried a madela single manual pump. wow, that was hard work... but worth it!
then i finally purchased a used madela pump in style from a lady my mom works with and used it for my next 2 girls... i still have it and it still works just like it did when i first got it... i would totally recomend the madela pump in style to everyone!
I used the Madela Pump in Style...it was a great pump! Convenient, efficient, easy to use. Can use on one breast or both, had a car adapter, which came in handy many many times. Carrying case even has a little compartment that will keep milk
cold all day long. I used mine every day for a year at work, and I've loaned it to three friends. It's now eight years old, and the neighbor across the street is using it...the thing is still going strong. Well worth the $275 or so...
I agree with everyone else, the Madela pump is the best. Someone got me a first steps one from target and it worked ok for about a week then broke. So DH and I bought the Medela pump in style about 275-300 I think but well worth it.
supply. My mom bought me the Medela Pump in Style backpack for this baby... I have done a lot of research and this pump has the best reviews of all...
For anyone looking to buy this pump or any Medela product, go to www.addalittlelove.com
They are a distributor for this company and they are priced way lower than stores and there is no tax.. Only $5.00 shipping as well...
I've used two didn't kinds of medela pumps, hospital grade ones and their awesome, I also went to walmart, and bought an evenflo pump, just so after my kids ate i could get any else out to store in the freezer for babysitters!
And they all worked awesome! However I wouldn't reccomend a hand
allergy (to milk-based formula and breastmilk), but I used the Medela single hand pump and WOW did it work well for me. I could get 4-5 oz in maybe 5 minutes. The clean-up was fast and I could shove the whole thing in a microwave steamer to sterilize it.
I would definitely consider getting the Pump In Style if I was going to pump longterm...but with the next baby, I'm going to wait until I know they can tolerate milk before dropping a ton of money.
The handpump is best at first because:
1. You may not be able to produce milk
2. Your baby might be allergic (it's rare..like my son...but it happens)
3. You might not like it
4. You may only nurse for a little while and not have the need for a $300 pump
I've seen that one but there is another one that I read the reviews and it seems really good and its a little less. I don't know has anyone heard of the Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump, I've heard they have other good products.
