I've personally never heard of it. Genereally difficulty breathing happpens much later in pregnancy when the baby is taking up much more space

Not an early sign... I just started having that feeling and I am 17 weeks.  I asked my doctor about it and she said it is because during the 2nd trimester your body produces a large amount of estrogen and this can cause shortness of breath.

Personally, I was not short of breath during the 1st trimester :)  But, who knows... everyone is different.

Do you have asthma?  I have asthma an my dr has been watching me close because he said that pregnancy can make worse.  Before I was pregnant I had to use my inhailers 2 or 3 times a week.  Now I use them 4 or 5 times per week.  Talk to your primary dr about testing you for asthma.  Some woman only have it during pregnancy.  I hope I was of help.  God Bless, Anita.

I too have asthma.  I just am 5 weeks pregnant & my asthma started getting me problems this past weekend.  The same thing happened when I was pregnant with me son!  Weird I know!

I had exercise induced and stress related asthma when I was younger. Haven't needed an inhaler in 7 yrs. I have had many signs of pregnancy but I don't think I'm far enough along to produce a positive HPT. It has been slowly getting worse and my pulse is high around 86 even though I'm not stressed out at all.

i would go for a blood test.  my sister had to use a inhailer when she was pregnant but it stopped after the baby was born.  If you have ever had asthma you should be tested for it every few years.  go to your dr an get a blood test.  then you will know.  keep us posted.  Anita
