Can I do anything...?

by eachatelain, Jan 26, 2009 01:36PM
I have read and found out that bleeding during sex while you're pregnant isn't uncommon, and that it's because the blood vessels on the cervix are numerous and close to the surface, but I'm 7 weeks and was just wondering if there is anything I can do about the spotting? Is it possible to avoid the spotting without my partner and I's sex life ceasing to exist until we're able to have sex again after the baby is born?

Thank you in advance..

There isn't anything you can do about the spotting other than maybe have gentler sex. However if you are spotting every time you have sex you might want to contact your doctor and see what they say.

I'm not spotting every time, its kind of random. We tried being a little gentler this last time, but we hadn't had sex in a few days, so I think that's why it really didn't work last time.

I would abstain from sex until you speak with a doctor about this and see why you're spotting. There may be other reasons that you're bleeding so a sonogram is a great idea!

I was spotting whenever my husband and I would have sex and I talked to my doctor about it. He said it isn't anything to worry about, but still advised we obstain from intercourse until my second trimester and ultrasound. So the first couple months we just did oral. It's not always as fun, but it's still a form of intimacy, and quite frankly, we learned new things about one anothers bodies. But, I woulds till consult with your doctor, because it could potentially be signs of other things.
Good Luck and Take It Easy!
