doctor when he was a teenager to help him grow better. We have been trying to get pregnant for a while now. My question is, can growth hormones make a man sterile?
Thank you,
Tabitha Priest
I don't think so. I know certain drugs and steroids can make a man sterile, or hurt his sperm count. But I doubt growth hormones would make a man sterile. If they did I wouldn't see them using it in today's society.
My doctors suggested I be put on steriods (not a growth hormone) when I was a teenager because my growth was stunted by 3-4 inches from an undiagnosed thyroid condition. I chose not too as I thought it was a little rediculous (I didn't want to change who I was... and thought that if someone didn't like me because I was 5 foot
then that was there problem). BUT.... certain STERIODS can lower a man's fertility. So, I would check to see exactly what he was on. I am unsure of growth hormones being used legally, but I know that in the 80s-90s (and who knows... maybe even now) doctors prescribed steriods enhance a persons height.
The drug was called "Nutropin" and I cant find anything telling me whether it is a steroid or not. If ANYONE can help me out PLEASE let me know!!! Also, anyone with any tips on getting pregnant are welcome & greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Y'all!!!
I would speak with a Dr.
A fertility Dr. would most definitely know. I tried to look it up and I didn't find anything about it causing sterility and most drugs that DO, would say so somewhere..
It does take some people a while to get pregnant, though. They say that after 1 year if you haven't gotten pregnant, to see a fertility specialist.
thank you for all of your help on this subject. You are all very helpful. If anyone does find out anything on this particular drug please let me know.
Thanks Y'all!!
