Can anti-anxiety meds mess up your cycle?

I started taking Lexapro for severe anxiety about 4 months ago...I started having really bad, debilitating anxiety attacks after my mom died suddenly at the age of 41, accompanied with insomnia, and bowel movements like 6 times a day. It has really helped me sooo much, but I switched to a lower dose last month, from 20 to 10 milligrams. I went on vacation last month and I forgot to take my pill 2 days in a row. That month I had no AF symptoms like I notmally due (cramps, very sore breasts, and moddiness), AF was also very light. I actually though I was prego, because I kept getting really dizzy and feeling sick, like I was going to throw up. Later I read about it and these are all symptoms of withdrawal from the meds (pretty scary). Anyway I can't find anything that supports my theory that it messed up my period. Anyone else have any probs with this med or any other SSRI?

Also, did anyone take or is still taking this type of drug while prego?

I never took Lexapro but did take Zoloft for post par. depression.  I don't know how similar these medications are but I mentioned it because my friend also took Zoloft for panic attacks that I think may be similar.  I also had another friend that took Zoloft for anxiety.  The Zoloft didn't do anything to my periods but did cause me to have really bad dreams and I had absolutely no sex drive.  I stopped taking the medication because I just couldn't take the side effects anymore.  It didn't cause me to have any withdrawal symptoms though.  This probably didn't help too much but I thought I'd just let you know because as I said, I don't know how similar these medications are.

Thanks, I know about all of the crazy side affects now....I don't know how you stopped taking it. After missing those pills last month, I'd be afraid to stop cuz of the withdrawals. I also don't want to be a stressed out mess. Anyone else have info on this? My reg doc says not to take this during pregnancy, my obgyn says its fine.
