Can this be possible?

by LAR0124, Mar 01, 2008 11:22AM
I had a transvaginal ultrasound yesterday that showed fetal pole to be 6 wks 1 day, no heartbeat yet though.  The thing that concerns me is that I had a +HPT on February 1st which would mean that I have to be at least 7-1/2 to 8 weeks pregnant, right?  Is it possible for this pregnancy to be viable?

Yes it's possible. Your dates may have been off. U/S is the best way to date a pregnancy and sometimes you may not see a heartbeat at 6 weeks. I would give it another week or so and you should be able to see it then. You could have ovulated later than you think you did and that's why the dates are a little off.

Thanks for the positive reply but considering I had a +HPT on Feb 1st shouldn't I be far enough along into the pregnancy that a heartbeat is detected?

What did your doctor day about this? Do you know whenyour LMP was? Iknow that sometimes they won't see a heartbest until later. Have you had any bleeding or cramping?

No bleeding or cramping whatsoever.  My LMP was January 2nd although I'm not always regular.  I just figure that since I had a +HPT on Feb 1st I would have to be nearly 8 weeks so a heartbeat should be seen......waiting until March 12th for the next u/s is going to drive me absolutely crazy!!

i had no fetal pole or heartbeat at six weeks, just a possible gestational sac and I had a U/S at 10 weeks and there was a perfectly healthy little baby in there.

yep, with my first I was 12 weeks before they got the heartbeat, 2nd child was 10 weeks, and this one they couldn't get until 12 weeks also.  Good Luck
