I took a pregnancy test a week ago on Monday, positive, and I was able to go to the doctor Thursday, he confirmed. Although I didn't tell my boyfriend until yesterday! XP We talked about it a little and I stressed the fact that I'm pro-life. I told him that if he wasn't ready I could handle it alone (I have a great job and live with some of my siblings), but he said he wasn't going to let me do that. So we decided to keep the baby/babies. What I want to know is my chances of multiples. Here are somethings I think are factors;
PERSONAL HISTORY
- I'm going on 27.
- My boyfriend and I were intimate with both condoms
lives in Germany). But when we got back together later in 2009 and started being intimate, we didn't use it because I guess we didn't think too much about it.
- I am on a few meds; Seroquel XR, Ampicillin, Amphetamine, Spironolact (I think), and Lamotrigine.
- My weight is in the healthy range for a small figure.
- I eat a lot, mostly junk, against my boyfriend's wishes
- I don't know if I ovulate regularly but I do get my periods regularly (missed 1 since I started almost 16 years ago).
FAMILY
HISTORY
- My mother has 5 children (4 girls, 1 boy) and has been pregnant only twice. So she had a set of triplets (my brother, older sister, and me) and twins (two younger sisters).
- Both sets of multiples were fraternal.
- My mom's sides of my family
is extremely fertile, 31 people (some conceived despite birth control) and a family joke is that we "get pregnant from using the same soup."
- I don't know if it matters but I was a superfetation baby, so my mom was pregnant for my brother and sister ovulated and I was conceived almost 13 weeks after my siblings.
There's really no way to give you a percentage as far as your chances of multiples. I've heard that multiples tend to skip generations however that is not always true. The best thing to do would be to schedule your ob appt and try and get a dating ultrasound as soon as possible.
Only thing to do is get an ultrasound. My dad is a fraternal twin and only had single baby pregnancies with my mom and I have only had singles as well. I also like to get pregnant when on bc and make the same joke as your family. I really think it depends on your body.
I'm in the same boat about twins. My husband side his mom and aunt are identical twins and my side I have had a aunt that had twin boys but lost them in a car crash, and my mom had my sister but they told her that she had a water baby. And my grandma also lost twins and had a water baby. So if me and my husband ever do get pregnant it would be nice to have twins but only god knows lol
I have several twins in my family and its supposed to skip a generation in my family, i'm a lefty (supposed to have 50% more chance of having twins). Everyone told me I was having twins. I'm pregnant with 1 little girl. There really is no way to know until your first ultrasound. Good luck, I'm glad youre making the right decision.
and know depending on how early of an u/s that one can be hiding. my mom only had one u/s with my twin brothers at 6 weeks and they saw only one. but since they do alot more u/s now you should know by ur 1st or seconds u/s
It's all luck of the draw. My mom tried for 10 years getting pregnant with me. And took her another 4 to have my brother. She suffered 2 miscarriages. No multiples. My grandmother on moms side had 9 kids, 4 miscarriages. No twins anywhere in moms side. A few sets on dads side.
I wasn't "supposed" to have twins. I have 2 2 year olds.It just happens. Some get them by taking fertility medication and others just release more than one egg at a time (which is what happens with most twins) where as luck would have it that the egg split.
