Clomid w/ multiple follicles - what are my chances of multiples?

Brief history: Dx'd with PCOS last April, lap in May with ovarian drilling; otherwise generally healthy.  Last July we had to terminate due to cornual blighted ovum, conceived with 1st round of clomid 50mg cd3-7.  I had my trigger shot on cd13 with follicles at 22 and 15mm.  

Fast forward to now:Finally decided to give it another go, and with 2nd round of clomid 50mg on cd3-7, my scan today on cd13 revealed follicles at 24,21, and 18mm all of my left side (nothing measurable on my right).  The doctor asked me if I wanted to trigger or not, and I absolutely asked to have it!  I was given a trigger of 5000 units hcg and was told to BD in the morning (DH leaves for work at 4am, so that's the only time we have here lately).  We have been TTC for 19 months and would love a big family and lots of babies!!  My question is what are my chances of multiples?  I know the trigger can aide in releasing all mature follicles, and just didn't know if that increases my chance of having more than one baby if we do in fact conceive this month.  I would be ecstatic with a singleton, and additional beans would just be an added bonus!!  Any thoughts are appreciated.

There is a really good chance of you having multiples as this is a medicated cycle...clomid increases your chances of having multiples by itself and with using the trigger shot all 3 eggs could be expelled, but most times it is the dominant follicle that is released...good luck...

Thanks, Dreamia!  DH and I would both be over the moon if we ended up with twins this go-round.  Like I said before, we want a full house so that would be a great start!  Trips would be a blessing, but that scares me!!  I don't think we are prepared for that - even though we would take any blessing at this point!!

My fertility doctor told my husband and I that with clomid our chances of twins goes up 8 percent, triplets one percent...but you having 3 mature follicles, you could have triplets!  Fingers crossed for you!

The more I think about it, I'm really excited about the prospect of having more than 1 baby!!!  DH and I were talking about it last night, and we would be so happy!!!!  Of course, at this point I'm really hoping we get a real BFP in 2 weeks and that it implants correctly.  After last years blighted ovum, I'm really nervous but cautiously excited.  The good news is, last time I only had 1 mature follicle and 1 that was almost mature - this time I had 1 @ 18 and 2 over 20!!!  These 2 weeks are going to take FOREVER!!!!!!!

Fingers crossed you... I guess we are in the same boat that scan I had on the 4th showed like 4 follicles one over 25mm... So now we wait.. This is so hard.. I have gained over 15 pounds with the bloating and cravings to eat a lot more... This whole month has felt like forever for me.. Since this is my first time on Clomid and watching so close to what is happening..  SSBD!!!!!!!

And fingers crossed for you too!!!  You are a week ahead of me, so wishing and hoping for your BFP next week!!!!  I've been on Weight Watchers for the last 2 months, so even with the clomid, I lost weight!!!  It's been fairly easy to keep my cravings in check - BUT it's because of what I keep in my house thanks to WW.  The first time I got my BFP, I put on 13 lbs within the first 2 weeks!!!!  I was so sure I could eat what I wanted since I was eating for 2.  Had I gone full term with that one, I would have been HUGE!!!!  If we conceive this month, hopefully I will be able to keep my cravings in check the whole time and only indulge a little!!!  Do you know what size your other follies were?  I had a whole bunch of itty bitty ones per the U/S tech, but the 3 she liked were 24.5mm, 21.4mm and 18.2mm - ALL mature!!!  I would love me some twinnies :)  SSBD to ALL of us!!!!!

Girl I am on cd26 and feeling nauseas on and off for a few days now.  I put on 25 pounds in a few months.  Then the Clomid has made me bloated for two weeks.  I look like I am already PG.  Like two months.  I really need to find something to help with the cravings.  I weighed my self yesterday at 145.  I was only 120 in October…. The holidays I put on 15 when the rest is the clomid… My boobs are now a DD… I am only 5’2…. I don’t know if I can stay on the clomid… for more then 2 cycles like this.. the weather is nice.  I don’t mind looking like I am PG during the summer but only if I am LOL….

I am praying that AF does not show her fury… on Thursday.  I hear so many stories that Clomid give you PG symptoms… My follicles sizes were almost 30mm I hear some say that is too big.  But the tech that does my scan was excited for me she said that I had a lot.  My OB/GYN told me that if my AF doesn’t come then to call him.. I have always been regular every 28 days exact.  And all my blood test has shown that there should not be a problem.  So I am tired.  Maybe I should sign up for weight watchers too.  I do walk 3miles a day.

weight watchers was the only thing that helped me.  It takes time and dedication and discipline, but you can do it!!!  I'm stopping ww for now because of hopefully having a bean, but once I have a baby, I'm going right back on it!!!  When are you testing?  I still have 10 days....the tww is torture!!!

I tested yesterday and it was (-) but I know I am still testing to soon... I have been sick to my stomach for 3days.  Well I am trying not to let it consume me... So I just wait it out and if not I will start over again and pay more attention to "O", I had no idea I was Oing if I didn’t ask for the ultrasound. Plus if I am NOT I am going back to my RE, cause right now my OB/GYN is not helping me.  He is really no help except for writing a scrip.  Well My fingers are cross for your double beans!!!!

I don't feel when I O, which *****.  I wish I did - I feel like it would be such a help.  Instead, I have to rely on my follicle scan and trigger shot and then just hope that it works.  I still don't know if I O on my own - we tried for several months naturally after our blighted ovum and got nothing but AF every month.  I would definitely go back to the RE - especially after the reaction you seem to be having from clomid.  If clomid doesn't work for us this cycle, I'm going to demand at least Femara, though I have been begging for pergonal since we started this whole process.  I got lucky that my OB ended up being an RE, and she really has been great.  If after a month on Femara or pergonal we still don't get a bean, then I'm going to do IUI.  I don't really want to, just because it's expensive - but I'll just have to save up.  Anything is worth it at this point.  How long have you guys been trying?

WOW... we have been trying for 2 years, but finally got my OB/GYN after 4 months to give me clomid I have a cyst about 3mm next to my ovary.  So they wanted to monitor it before giving me Clomid... I am taking 100mg a day, 50 in the am and 50 in the pm.  I told my Husband last night that I am doing the clomid for only 3 cycles and then if we have too; the IUI... My insurance pays for all the visits and stuff but not the wash.  I am going to give the RE I went to first a call and make an appt for next week, just in case. I am tired of the neg HPT... I might have to frame the postive one when it happens LOL... I wish we can get a disount on the next HPT when we bring in a neg. one LOL..

Yeah, this is our 2nd round of clomid and after this one - if it doesn't work - I'm considering going straight to femara or perganol (if my RE will even give me perganol) for one month, then straight to IUI.  I was talking to DH about it last night, and he told me he doesn't care what it costs (our insurance doesn't cover IF) we will do what we have to do to start our family.  He said we could even go overseas for IVF since it's cheaper.  haha.  He's a trip sometimes.  I know he's just trying to be helpful.....he doesn't know what to do with how frustrated and sad I've been.

I would say that you have a good chance of multiples, but you could also have a singleton as well. I was on Clomid to get pregnant with this pregnancy and only had one mature folicle and had my trigger shot and of course only having a singleton. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you have at least 1 baby!!
