Cloth Diapers

by star_girl, Sep 28, 2008 03:44PM
I know this has been asked once before and i checked out that thread but i was wondering if any of you that have used cloth diapers could recommend a good site to order from.  Some people say motherease but i think for their packages they just seem too expensive for me.  They are nice because they snap and dont use fasteners but for what your getting i just think the price is higher.  I've been looking into diapers Etc. and i think thats what im going to go with.  They are kinda like the old fashioned diapers just improved.  They seem more cost friendly.  My big question is has anyone used these kind of diapers?  Are they good?  Any advice would be great!!!!  Thanks.

This might get more replies on the Maternal & Child forum.
:)

Sorry, I have no advice though. Except cloth diapers are a pain in the butt, IMHO. lol! But kudos to you for trying it out.

They are actually really great since they allow more breathing room and babies are less likely to get diaper rash. I know that a lot of people don't like to use them because they aren't as convenient as regular diapers but they are very cost effective. I know that you said the motherease ones were a little out of your budget but after the very beginning your only going to be using a couple a day anyways and then I imagine you'll probably want to wash them daily so in the long run you would be saving a ton. I know that gerber has them at target which are pretty cheap as well but I don't know anyone who has used those ones..

I'd love to get more info on cloth diapering from mothers who have done it as well.  I am pretty sure DH and I will be cloth diapering as much as possible when we finalyl get babies of our own!

I THINK we're going to try using plain prefold cloth diapers (They are the ones you canget at Target, etc that most people use as burp cloths, only make sure to get the heavy-duty, diaper-service quality ones) with diaper covers from Bummis, Pro-Raps, Thirsties, Bumkins, Tiny Tush or something.  I think we might buy one of each brand at first, and then when we find one we think works best we will stock up on them.

I have also heard that it's ok to buy covers and diapers used to try them out.  I am not afraid to do that, I'll jsut make sure to sanitize them well.  I just figure... if people use a diaper service, they're sharing the actual DIAPER so it can't be all bad to buy used.  Let me know fi you find any good info anywhere!

Oh, and Dappi makes diaper covers that are really cheap - like $5 each.  I don't know how well they hold leaks or fit, etc.
